Camaro is still around 10% higher overall since they started shipping in 2009.
Although add up all the mustangs sold for all the years the Camaro was out of game and we would have game over. Does anyone know how many Camaros and Mustangs have been produced since the beginning. That would be the real winner. |

This is very true. I just a GT500 for that same reason. I really wanted a Ruby Red ZL1 but the 14's aren't out yet. I did not like the pre 14 taillights on the Camaro but I loved the front end. So I got the Mustang before they start "ecoboosting" them. |

That's badazz. I think the 13-14 Mustang styling is the best yet. I love them. I can't wait for the 6th Gen Camaros. I am thinking about either trading off my garage queen for a 14 GT 500 or waiting for the 6th Gen as I'm just not a fan of the 5th.

In response to motorheads request for historic numbers, I am not an expert, but there are few facts i recall from my auto interest reading. Mustang reached 10,000,000 units sold about year two of the S197 (5gen) stang, about 2006. In the same year Corvette hit 1,000,000 units sold. It took vette 41 years that is why I am saying around 2006. There were over 300,000 mustangs sold in 2003 & 2004. A fellow on this web site gave me those numbers, something like 158,000 for 03 and 148,000 for 04. The S197 averaged 160,000 units 2005 and 2006. That 320,000 units in two years (and the Steve McQueen TV ad) is what I believe brought Camaro and Dodge back to the Pony/Muscle car production. In fairness to Camaro their 2009 introduction was into an economy that was collapsed. However, the pent-up demand counted for a lot. In STL, MO there was a $2500 premium on V6 and a $4000 premium on V8 SS and buyers paid it.
I am still surprised Camaro did not show better numbers in June for the motorsport exposure. I am surprised also by the rise of Challenger. Hey why not? all three of these cars are cool to drive and own. It sets us apart from the 19 out of 20 guys driving front wd v6 minivans and 4 door boring sedans. |

Interesting that year after year the total sales per year keep edging up.

I believe charger sales went up because of the movie, fast and furious 6. It's all over the movie. They even make it believe it can compete with a GTR. WTF ???

Price also has a lot to do with it. I just saw an ad on Autonation that has the 2013 Mustang V6 Couple for $17,995 which includes a 3,000 Autonation discount, and a 2,000 Ford Rebate. I just checked the Chevrolet website and the Camaro has none. I also went to the Autonation site for Chevrolet and all their 2013 Camaro V6 Coupes are at 23k without any rebates available. 5k is a lot of money when it comes to that. So I predict the July sales winner will be the Mustang again.

of my zip code. Zero cars found. I wish what you write was true. 014 GTs are last of solid axle pony cars and the best of. Every dealer i visit wants an arm and leg. $5k in discounts cannot be found in my region. |
