These guys are right about the taxes though. Dr. Pepper might pay for the actual tax on the vehicle, but you will be taxed on it come the end of the year. Either way, it is completely worth it.

No income taxes are collected at time of winning or recieving the car. the taxes are due at income tax (april) time. Now he can probably do a payment plan or whatever or just "sell" the car to himself. Any bank will loan 8 grand on a new camaro I am sure.

Sales tax is different. he didn't buy the car, thus no sales tax. Dr. Pepper bought the car so they pay the sales tax. I am not sure they can cover the title and license though because that is state by state.

HOWEVER, you said something about college. If you are young enough, and unemployed or employed at minimum wage, your tax bracket may be low enough to get the car for well under $8k. I'm not tax accountant though, I would call someone who knows and ask some questions.

I'll pay $8k for the car if you can't j/k Gratz bro
True, I just used the 30% as the math was easy. More like what ssump29 said. Seems closer I would imagine to 10-20% or less for a college kid. Regardless he is on the hook for something.

congrats to the OP.....

related story from 4th of July...

I'm going to watch fireworks with the wife and kids in Dixon, CA on saturday and sitting in the parking lot was a BRAND SPANKING NEW 1LT Yellow Camaro automatic with the RS package.... Looked amazing. I'm not super into yellow but this thing was really nice. Would have been better in a 2SS version but it was nice nonetheless....

So me and the wife are drooling over it thinking about how awesome it'll be when our CGM 2SS finally gets here... The guy who owns it comes over and starts putting his chairs in the trunk and my wife asks him "did you pay MSRP???" and the guys replies "No, Free".... My wife is like "what?" and he proceeds to tell her he won it in a contest from GM.....

no friggin way.... yes way..... he won the damn thing free and clear. says he paid like 2200 in TTL and walked.... crazy.....

I don't eat anything that says diet too many wierd chemicals and ingredients.

But I do know it's probably one of the better tasting diet soda's.

By the way, the other winner on here for this contest is Kristinw0821.
That is sad that you will have to sell it Wow..
