I have 265/50/18 Nittos up front, and 305/45/18 Nitto drag radials in back. Let me know if you need any special pictures.
FWIW, I didn't do these to save money, not that anyone asked, I really like how the OEM ZR1 wheels look as well as some of the GS wheels.

295-45-18's are very close to 275-40-20, which a lot of guys run on the front. Helps get rid of understeer and you can rotate. I went with 18's because they are lighter and I think the extra tire sidewall looks better. JMHO

I'll definitely be staying with 18s & I plan on going the same size all the way around. I was planning on the 265/50/18 Nittos when I started looking at this. Now I'll have to consider the 295/45/18 Nittos too.
what are you 2 running...offset, spacers, lugs & what, if any, other mods did this require?

18x9.5 40mm front and back
Rears: E brake tied back, no other mods Fronts: Have 5mm spacers up front, also ground down pad on the strut (pics on page 1, I maybe ground more than most folks need to). I don't have part number for my lugs, but they are the popular Gorilla ones. Also cut off wheels from brake pads, new aftermarket pads wouldn't have those weights. cntry, one thing to keep in mind is your goal regarding tire height. I wanted to stay around stock height, not go shorter.

I went shorter all the way around, lost more weight, helped the gearing, more responsive (had taller 18" tires at first but the car felt like an SUV).
I did 285/40 18 all the way around on 18x10, but they will fit 18x9.5 just fine.

How far off is your speedometer with the shorter tires?

I've noticed as I've gone from my 20x9/275 combo to my 20x8/245/snows to these 18x9.5/265's, that the newest front combo feels the lightest.

My car is tuned so I got it fixed, but it would only be off by about 6%. So when you are going 70 mph your speedo reads 74 mph.

285/40/18 all the way around on mine. I'd like to go to a 275/45/18, but they seem to be an oddball size and are very expensive from everything I've found so far. I'm running the .125" spacer shown above, that's just a hair over 3mm. Why run a thicker one if you don't have to?
Also, I did not have to move, or tie back my ebrake cable on the LS, plenty of clearance. |
