Trading up definitely makes more sense than modding up... but, cruising home from work last night I was over taken by a couple of V8 'stangs playing tag.
They were about to come on around me when I dropped the V6 into 3rd and wound her out past 7K, then well into 4th. Could have sworn I heard those boys say.... "DAMNNN!" but I'm not sure, coz they were pretty far back by then. You're gonna spend it- it just depends on what you enjoy spending it on. Fact is (imho), a modded V8 is more motor than you can ever use on the street. But a well modded V6 is a thing of beauty that requires some effort and ingenuity- not just $, to achieve. |

Sorry didn't mean to be ambiguous.
IMHO, if you want 400hp in a solid, reliable, warrantied package, you should get a V8. But a lot of other guys and gals are gonna be trolling around in the same car. If you want something different with no factory warranty (although IPF does offer a power train warranty with their S/C), that despite having "just a V6" can run with the big dogs- then mod up your V6. Should you choose option #2 and take it all the way to FI, you will likely spend just as much as a SS would have cost you, and you would be lucky if you get half that investment back when you move on to the next car. |

Who said anything about moving to the next car?? Plan on keeping this thing forever. Just passed a 69 Camaro that looked sweet. Hope mine still looks as good at 45 years old... And TT is definitely in my future

Correct, If you shop around the marketplace forums you'll find great deals. I have less than $1,500 all total for my SS Brembo's (+powder coating). GM wants $5,600.00 just for the parts in the front/rear SS kit. I'll have around $1,200.00 total invested in my 1LE suspension upgrade (including installation) once I'm finished. SO let's see. I have a full upgraded 2LT with all the mods listed below in my signature. The GM retail price for a SS Brembo + 1LE track pack is around $7,100.00 just for the parts. I'm sure the dealer install pricing would be another $2,00.00. So you almost at $10,000.00 for just those two upgrades. I'm less than $3,000.00 for the two and I'm currently working on my IPF supercharger funds.

Everyone has a good point. I used to have a 2012 1ls that I lightly modified, just because I knew one day I would trade it for an SS. I went with the v6 because obviously I couldn't afford it and I love the Camaro so I had to have it 😍. If you know that you can afford an SS then go for it but if you have spent too much money on your 6 then I'd keep it. With s/c or TT you'll have plenty of power. By the way, I loved my v6 but now that I have the SS I have no words for it. It was worth the wait.
Bee!! Either way you go you'll be right |

And no matter what u do to ur v6, u will never have the torque .I hand a 2011 v6 it was ok, but my 2012 v8 is amazing. I love torque.and it's easier to mod.question to all the people with heavily modded v6 how reliable are they? Yes u can make them fast but if u. Drive them everyday are u sure in it's reliability ? These were the questions I asked my self and that's why i traded up.
