BUT the way this works is YES, it is now a $200 fine IF the cop decides to be a dick and write you up on it. I would say 95% of the time they will give you a written warning.

***IMPORTANT PART HERE***

IF YOU GET A TICKET, it is what is known as a correctable offense, like not having your drivers license on you.

You go to the court house, show them that you put your front plate on (basically zip tie it to your grille for 2 minutes) and you pay $5-$10 and the ticket is dismissed.

Then you walk out of the court house, cut the zip ties, and go about your business.

I refuse to put a front plate on my car, I'll make 10 trips to the court house and keep annoying them with it. Doesn't bother me!

(PS I've been pulled over without and never ticketed, and pulled over with it in my windshield and never bothered about it)

Didn't work out for me that way, I got stopped twice in Universal City, Texas (basically San Antonio) and they had a record of me and charged me with some BS repeat offense.

Judge gave me another warning and told me it'd be a $200 fine if it happened again.

So front license plates it is for me :(

I live in San Antonio, but work in Universal City, so big bummer there.

FYI a plate on the dash is the same as no plate, except more dangerous in the event of an accident
Nothing like having a giant razor blade bouncing around in the car.

For the life of me I can't quite figure out why we need a front plate. I guess so an officer can read it off in the mirror? I absolutely hate the way it looks, but I'm not a trouble maker so I'll live with it, but I am perplexed by the law.

That may work in your town but not mine. And when I do get stopped and written for the lack of a front plate I don't see it a the officer being a dick, he's simply doing his job by enforcing the laws set forth by your elected officials you keep this law on the books. We are the dicks for wasting officer's time!!!

Michigan, no front plate and no sticker in the windshield. Sticker goes on the rear plate with month and year. Very easy, no issues and the state saves on the cost of making two plates. Texas is a B/S law. Just another way for radar to target the vehicle and now speed Cameras and police vehicle with plate readers. We run two high performance vehicles. They don't have front plates and never will. BTW my Vette has a recording device in Valet mode and and I am not giving that up either.

jacfab cost about !/2 of the $200 ticket and he will ship to your door. You don't have to go down to the court house. Oh by the way it helps a little bit if you don't spot a high curb while parking.

Well, since we don't pay a state income tax... maybe they could add that in and begin taking part of our income away.

No thanks, I'll keep a plate on my car and the money in my pocket so I can add more and more cars. What fun!

I have been pulled over once for it a few months ago and was issued a warning. 2 things to think about with this stupid law:

1) Are LP lights required for the front as they are on the back LP? Nope

2) Do motorcyles require a front plate? Nope

I will keep mine off the front until ALL motor vehicles are required to follow the same law.

I never got pulled over for it in my GTO and I had that for 6 years and my Z for a year and a half. It's been mentioned once, in my camaro. I told him I a real problem with holes in the front of my car. Got the speeding ticket but not even a warning for the plate. Didn't hit ins either. Yay!

Dealership temp plates

So my question is, why do dealerships only have to install one rear temporary plate? I've been driving around for a week with the dealer tag, driven past several police officers, and have not been stopped.

My new plates are coming this week in place of dealer temp plate. So guess I have to get the Jacfab now so it's one less reason to get pulled over.

Does the camaro have a front tow hook hole that we can screw a special license plate that mounts into that hole??
