To the ones saying the 14s are the reason for the sales increase, I have to disagree. early October was the last time I saw a new Mustang on a dealer lot within a 100 miles or so. Iv seen used ones but not new.

Also to the ones who say they see Mustangs everywhere there is a reason behind that. The Mustang outsold the Camaro pretty easily up to 2002 when the Camaro was retired. From 2003-2009 there where hundreds of thousands of Mustangs that where sold(I think the S197 got pretty close to selling 1 million units by 2014) where 0 Camaros where sold. Now if you compair recent years (not every mustang since 1994) 2010-2015. the Camaro easily out numbers the Mustang I'd say 3-1 at least here anyways.

I checked out a ’15 mustang GT premium coupe with performance upgrade kit Sunday. Unfortunately I didn't get to drive it on a highway since I arrived late in the day.

Net: They improved it a lot over previous years.

The looks are not too bad up close. The front seems a bit long, but when you open the hood, there really isn't much room left in the engine compartment.

It is now heavier. Hmmm....

My right knee now fits properly! The paddle shifter seemed like a good design. The interior is much nicer other than a few knobs/switches (see below). The steering wheel no longer looks/feels like a toy. The Radio/Nav seems pretty refined. It has nice leather - and wait for it - memory seats.

The performance upgrade kit (6 piston Brembos, suspension, etc.) includes DOT4 brake fluid.

Side note: They will sell you an upgraded intake and a software upgrade to max it out - THAT DOESN'T VOID YOUR WARRANTY!

I only had 5 issues with this car:

1) Interior radio/AC knobs and performance controls are cheap, cheap, cheap plastic. (update: apparently it's aluminum)
2) Didn't see a HUD - not sure if it is available.
3) Hood support rod is still manual.
4) It wasn’t a convertible.
5) It’s a Mustang.

For a daily driver torque monster it’s not too bad though.

Chevrolet is going to have to step up their game with the Gen6 Camaro. It has to be a performance beast with the expected items currently missing, low end or behind the times. My hope is since it's based off the same platform as the Cadillac that anything Chevrolet forgets to add/upgrade can be borrowed from the equivalent Cadillac.

This is the very reason I purchased the 2014 because it resembles my '69 brick style taillights. Also, how can you speculate about 'not many '15's will be made'? You sir are entitled to your comments and freedom of speech and that I respect. There are reasons why people choose various styles. Variety is the spice of life.

The rest of you message I agree with and you make very important observations. Let's hope the continued success for the Camaro!!

NOTE Don't read emotions into this reply, it's just me telling you why I chose the 2014.

Not many '15's will be made.

It is a transition year.

Pre-orders were down. People know the 6th gen is coming. This year is simply the cap on what was an extremely successful generation of cars. V6's may still sell well because they aren't often pre-ordered and very little changes have been made throughout generations, but SS's should take a hit with the redesign coming down the pike.

[QUOTE=shaffe;8104245]Not really. I may have seen a few more but nothing substantial to notice a wide change. Being 100% honest I have seen more 15s ( total of two in the last week than 13s or 14s).

I am sure someone can look into the surplus inventory dealers may have had, but if they stopped building them in June, to still have a substantial amount of 14s on lots in November would have meant over 4 months of inventory...I am not saying its not possible, but for people to be saying the huge jump in sales is simply bc of rebates on the 14s and not bc the 15 is finally here to me seems a bit far fetched. At least to me it does, I know it helped, but I dont think the huge jump was simply bc of rebates on the 14s. I just searched the 5 dealers closest to me, they have a combined total of 8 2014 Mustangs, with 2 of those being GT500s. It's not like Ford was building them like F-150s lol, hell my local dealer still has like 30 2014 F-150s, with their inventory showing some dealer ordered 2015 F150s

Oh, Ok! I meant 15's but you gave a answer for all! I've seen two 15's but I have been seeing 13-14's like crazy now! I think the 14 and 15's did it because I forgot the rental car places too and just look at how many 15's was at the sema show!

Mustang don't have HUD nor does the Challenger!

For kicks and giggles I went to a local Chevy dealer (metro Portland) and looked into buying a 1SS 1LE. I got the song and dance about how they're limited production, specialty vehicles, how GM is only making so many, blah blah. Long story short they wouldn't cut a price below MSRP +$550.

I then went to a Ford dealer, explained that I was simply shopping, and they quoted me INVOICE -1% on a base GT with Recaro's and the Performance Pack. They didn't try some song and dance about how it's limited production, or hard to find.

GM dealers are almost universally asinine when it comes to the Camaro.
I'm sure with very little effort you can get a 1LE spec'd closer to Invoice as I and many others have done. I'm also thinking you are referring to a '14 Stang, and not a '15? Anyway, significant variance between dealers everywhere I guess.
