I`m 38 and have owned a 1979 Firebird I bought in 1986 when I was 16 and still have it to this day. A 1989 Camaro RS, and a low 11 sec 1996 trans Am. I`ve always loved the F cars. I currently have a 2006 Vette and will be getting either the V8 Camaro or the blown version if I can wait that long to go alongside my Vette. Vette in sig, Avatar is my previous TA getting air and a pic of my 79 Firebird.

My plans are for the the Camaro to be an auto w/ a stall for drag racing. My Vette is a manual w/ the z51 handling package for the twisties. A manual is more fun to drive but an auto rules the drag strip w/ consistency not to mention its easier on the rear and the 60 foots are much lower than the manual w/ the addition of a stall.

Here`s a pic of my 79 but it started life as a doo-doo brown metallic car w/ no rear spoiler.

Currently 48, will be 49 when the car is available. I plan on buying as soon as I find an orange with black stripes w/v8. I've owned 3 first gen's and don't have a Camaro to my name right now, its a sin I tell ya!

I really think the Camaro's design appeals to a VERY broad group of people, but most of it is the younger folks. (Which, no offense to you old guys j/k!! Is a very good thing) Once you gain a customer, chances are you've gained them for a long time. Best to nab them when they're young.
So Dragon, being 21 myself I want to ask: what is your plan to afford it right out of college? I mean assuming I sell my Cutlass I'll have that 5000 to put down, plus whatever trade in I get for my Cobalt, plus I'm entering into a decently paying field (operations/corporate finance) with little school debt and zero credit card debt, but I've been thinking I wouldn't be able to afford it for a couple years. So what's your plan?

I'll be 57 next week. At this point in life, I can pretty well (within reason) drive what I want, and what I want is a new Camaro. I've previously purchased 4 new Firebirds, but I have no problems switching to the Chevy sibling for this generation.

Just as soon as the convertible ordering starts, I'll be trading my BMW 330 cab on the Camaro

I might have to get there the long route though; if the Challenger conv. becomes available more than 6 months before the Camaro, that might be an interim step for me.
