I'm thinking long and hard about this right now, actually. I love driving a manual, but AFM and traffic make me think about it again and again. Can anybody tell me what drivetrain loss is like on a paddle shifted auto? Is it the same as on a regular auto, I.E. more than on a manual?

Paddle shifters are only a different interface, they don't indicate whether it's still a traditional automatic (with its lossy torque converter) or a dual clutch / sequential manual gearbox. As far as I can tell, the Camaro is getting a traditional automatic.
