Some people only see the bottom line, the fact GM incentivised buyers to the tune of 15k goes unnoticed. To answer your question, i'll bet it wasn't over 100, if that. That 54k figure was every dime in the deal on one non AC car so now everyone's is worth only 54k, even though someone recentely posted they were given 10k more than that figure on a trade in for a C7Z06

Just wait till they come out with the Gen6, with a hair dryer for power, and no RPO Z28 and you will see inventory of the remaining one's disappear well north of 54k. JMO

Hey, that was MY deal!
Actually there were 2 @$54k, a '14 non-A/C car and a '15 with A/C. Considering they only made a total of 32 '14's w/o A/C, I daresay they will be the ones to have (in terms of a potential collectible), especially when that aspect of the car was highlighted.

And that deal went within the first hour or so the dealer opened (believe I tried to get it but wasn't fast enough). No one else was offering the same. A few sold in the high 50's, most were 60k or over. So, percent wise out of 2-3000 cars, very small.

I called up and down a good portion of the east coast when that deal was going on and maybe found 5-6 cars that were available with that discount - not a whole lot compared to # of cars built. Country wide, I bet at most 50-100 cars were offered at that price.

I'd have to agree with you on that!

At some point the car will be deemed a collector.

This is assuming the next Z28 or Z/28 will have a blower. An LT1 or maybe LT2 at that point could make enough hp to replace the LS7. At 460 its very close now.

And if Gen 6 is say 3500lbs - they could have the makings a car that will whip the Gen 5 Z/28.

At that point would you still pay 55-75k? Probably not. Another factor is what will the GT350R sell for?

IMO - this Z will be highly sought after. It will take at least 20 years if there is a gen 6 Z/28 that is NA.

There will always be faster cars. If you look at these from an investment standpoint, they have quite bit going for them. Relatively low production, track based no frills purpose built- just like the L72 and ZL1 first gens,(and they couldn't give those away either) They also share those three magical numbers, which links them forever in GM performance DNA. There has never been a factory Z28 with a 427, quite fitting for a curtain call that it goes out in a Camaro. GT350 R is a great car, but the woods are full of various collectable late model performance mustangs.

Good article, but they have one glaring omission-
