I believe the 12 ZL1 was announced in Nov 11 and the first were released in April 13.

Also, the auto is more and the vert is more, the 13 probably also didn't have recaros. Check the options on both. And two different years, depreciation.

I prefer the 13, it has mylink. No recaros, but you can add later. I also wasn't fond of the rearend refresh.

I assume the coming ZL1 is going to have the LT4 as well. May want to wait on that buddy. We all seen how fast the new CTS-V is.

The SS sits higher, has less visability (no matter what the magazines say) and almost no back seat. The tires are smaller, the brakes are much smaller, and the presence of the car is infinitely smaller. The new SS is a very cute, quick car. It feels incredibly polished, and Euro. Makes me think BMW coupe. Its full of "neat" little amenities that may appeal to a daily driver. However, the ZL1 is the badass monster that your uncle always kept out in the shed with a tarp over it. It wreaks of muscle. Its obnoxious, its mean, its sexy. At the same time the mag ride and micro fiber suede take care of your ass on a long ride. If this is something you are truly considering than wait at least until the 1LE is on the market, because in the grand scheme of things the 16SS is going to be a dime a dozen and fairly forgettable compared to the ZL1. You would have to weigh in how long you plan on keeping the car. Just imagine owning a GT500, and then switching to the 15 GT when the body style changed. 1 year later there are 800 to 1 GTs on the road in comparisons to GT500s. 30 years from now when you walk out to your dream garage and pull a tarp off a car are you going to be showing your grandson just another SS, or are you going to show him the car that changed shit for the muscle car world...
Amen.

I would go with 16 SS. The ZL1 is nice but you can't argue with the starting performance of the 16 SS, especially that A8.

I see no indication anywhere the OP wants a track car, and no indication anywhere he wants to heavily mod the car.

There is no question that the standard SS is a more reliable and a more practical daily driver. In addition to the increased reliability, you get about 50% better fuel economy, lower maintenance costs and lower insurance rates. If the OP plans on putting significant mileage on the vehicle over time, the SS is probably the better play and more than enough for touring - the 2016 SS runs with the 2015 ZL1 stock-for-stock.

I said the SS is a better daily driver than a ZL1.
Get a Malibu if you want a DD. ZL1 is a much nicer car than a new SS
