I did see on a couple lists and the Impala was right up there along with many of the
electric cars. If I find it i'll let you know.
I searched & the following link was in the results:

Interesting point. The 6th Gen Camaro is as close to the performance level of the current Corvette as the Camaro has ever been. The Corvette having a little edge due to suspension and weight advantages. It seems that for the price a loaded up 2SS, you can get a 1LT or even 2LT Corvette give or take a couple grand. The Corvette is going to have more standard features so the lower trim Corvette and higher trim Camaro are a toss up in that regard. The Corvette will most likely hold it's resale value a little better as well.

So perhaps folks are going to the dealerships thinking loaded up Camaro, finding that a Corvette can be had for just a little more money, or even less for a gently used one, and taking that deal instead. Maybe GM was thinking it would go the other way, and people would say that for less money they could get nearly the same performance.

Of course GM could be setting this up for the next gen Corvette. If it goes mid engine and continues to chase the supercar market, the Camaro now becomes the more affordable front engine rwd sports car.

If the next Vette is $80K+ GM might shoot themselves in the foot. Maybe they expect consumers who can't afford it, to move down to a loaded Camaro & pay current Vette prices.

If I was buying new now, I'd be in a Mustang instead. Nice body, and better price.

You screwed up GM.

Keeping my fifth Gen and will add a Mustang later on.

It's not really a far fetched idea anymore. The one thing that the C7 Stingray has brought to the Corvette is true legitimacy to the name plate. While we have all known for decades that the Corvette was the best performance bargain, GM finally made a car that finally makes the grade in all categories, causing the Porsche, MB, BMW, maybe even a few Ferrari shoppers to give it serious consideration. Corvette is just about to earn it's place in the big leagues. I've read and seen video's where even Juchter suggests that they may have gone as far as they can with the present platform. Some of the overheating issues with z06 might be what he means. Corvette isn't going anywhere, and it is certainly not going backwards from here. Mid engine carbon fiber might be next logical step to take it further. If they do, it's probably going to be six figures to enter the party, at minimum.

So, where would that leave us, good ol' hot rodders that love the engine in front? The Corvette buyer that won't go as far as the mid engine super price hike? The Camaro of course. According to everything I've read and heard, without driving one yet, it seems the Gen 6 is awfully close to Corvette performance now. One strong indicator that something is in air, is the fact that they are introducing the 10spd auto, in not a Corvette, but the Camaro. From the videos I've seen, the ZL1 equipped with this trans, just might give a Z06 all it can handle. Now, there's no way GM would make this move unless they had something big up their sleeve for the Z06 in the very near future. It's the only way this makes any sense.

Its real simple

A Great deal of Camaro sales up to 2016 were V6's iwith and without the RS package and to lesser a degree the SS.

The new Camaro somehow, and I'm not a styling expert, but to me looks to blah from the side, and the back is in standard trim pretty bad. Combine that with the price and , well there you go.
I keep riding through the chevy dealers and I'm just not turned on by the base Camaros, they are blah and a lot of people loved the 5th gen even in the base v6 and such.

Now when you doll it up in a full blown 2ss ile the design looks great, not to mention the ZL1, but I have to say most of the people I know love the front of the new Camaro but hate the back

Combine that with higher prices and well Mustangs have one this round.

I'm not a big fan of the Mustangs, son had the new design and I though it was boring, but I'm afraid it basically looks the same in all trims and is a safer more appealing design to most of the buyers.

By the way most of those buyers don't even go on forums. Don't care if the New GT mustang is slower than the old one. Don't care if the New SS Camaro handles as well as a 5th gen 1Le.

Price difference of 2-3000 dollars will break the deal.
Throw in the challenger/chargers with more leg room and the comparison
shopping puts the Camaro in trouble.

I will be keeping my 2013 2SS 1LE and probably be going mild to medium engine mods.
My humble opinion

Some random guesses:

-people that aren't die-hard fans of 1 car or the other might have already opted for a Mustang when it was refreshed.

-lots of current 5th gen owners are happy enough with their cars to not consider moving to a new one

-these cars have limited appeal to begin with in the entire marketplace. You'd be surprised, or not, at the number of folks who still believe that US cars are inferior products.

I was in looking at the 50th anniversary model right before I bought my 2010. They bundled the anniversary package with the techno-disco light package and only made it on the 2SS and 2LT . So with all the bells and whistles, the 2LT was in the $38,000 range with the V6 and the 2SS would have been pushed up past $47,000. With WA state tax running in the high 9.8 percent range, you do the math and that's why I backed away slowly...

Then I spotted my 33K mile 2010 1SS across the lot and drove it off for $20K. Since it's my toy, I am much happier with the Gen 5.

Look at 2009. Gen5 sales didn't peak until 2011.

2016 sales:

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Domestic Total Gross: $402,111,870
Release Date: June 24, 2009

Quote:
Interest in the car was seen not only in theaters and in the toy aisle, where the Camaro was available as more than 150 different types of toys, but also in dealerships. GM saw a 10% gain in sales for yellow Camaros. The color typically accounts for less than 5% of any model’s sales. It also sold 60,000 Camaros in 2009, and would sell 80,000 in 2010, many of which were attributed to the “Transformers” films.

Yes, but there you have year over year increased sales.
The new 2016 model has been a slow seller & the 2017 is doing worse.
