If Only tax payers knew how much those upgraded wheels and Rs package is for a cop car. That is a Waste Of tax Payers Money! 21" tires Are mighty expensive to be replacing often! The factory wheeln tire Is more than enough for a pursuit vehicle!

I thought the car is faster with 18" wheels. No need for 21"'s on a police car.

Well personally with this big green movement going on. I think our Federal, State and local should lead the way and all of their vehicles should from this day forth be Smart Cars.

I have a lot of friends in law enforcement, I think it would be a riot. Just keed the radio handy, no car made that can outrun that bad boy.

Hell who cares, I think there are plenty instances of waste in our gov't. Just look at any highway crew, one guy works while three watch. Go to the DMV for new tags, half the prople working there are always on break, one comes back and another leaves.
Go check out your elected officials office, nicer than most bank CEO's and for a part time gig.
I could go on for ever with this stuff, I think they all (government) forgot who they work for.
Maybe a nice car will put that officer in a good mood, and let us pass on a 3 mile an hour over the limit citation.

The RS package is a waste of money on a patrol car. The 21's are just plain criminal.....

Seriously, i wear blue too and I would kill to have a 2010 camaro as my work ride. But, Jesus, the near $6,000 those two items cost could be nearly all the emergency equipment installed for that car.

We pay around $26,500ish for a police Crown Vic. You then add around $10,000 in equipment to it, maybe more, maybe less depending on what you are reusing from the old car it replaces. It isn't a whole lot more to jump to a 1 ss then add the equipment.

Up here we really don't need them, an unmarked charger will haul fast enough to get the job done. Down South where high performance machines are more prevalent, I see the need for this car.

That's just wrong. A 2SS/RS with 21" wheels?! Couldn't that money be used for something else in the community?

Well to help maybe set things straight your tax dollars don't pay for that car the tolls do. I just talked to my dad and ac expressway parkway and turnpike all pay for there own cars not to mention all they have are slow crown vics and people run all the time and kill other people not for nothing but would you try and run from a camaro honestly most likley not and if you did your definitely not getting far. Also keep in mind they get fleet deals probably got it off a lot at coast if not cheaper this is actually a first for the state police the state dose not give them much to begin with and locals get a hell of a lot more and that's why property taxes are through the roof in nj and also if camaro 5 wanted to host a camaro event in ac they would shut down the ac expressway and let you drive as fast as you want how nice would it be to be going 150 with that in front. Its honestly need in nj there are a ton of fast cars out here and nothing to keep up with them and kids are so stupid with street racing on the highway ill be honest done it myself but most people dont know when to stop mainly kids they think there fast and furious rip up the shoulder at over a 100 trying to be cool from running and kill someone in the process i have seen it happen. and to those i may have pissed off one last thing to say glad i have njsp gold cards so for the rest of ya don't speed (don't worry i get worse than a ticket if i get pulled over for being dumb and it sucks)

To ad to my little tif if you want to call it that the car was donated by the casinos to try and help reduce the speeding. Death toll is at its highest mostly due to wreck less drivers and people speeding home from the casinos at an average of 100 plus

I'm super happy that our police don't do the high speed chase thing, maybe once in a blue moon. So just what do you officers do at 100+ after you catch up to them? Maybe sell the footage for the TV and make some money to keep the car in tires. Just don't make no sense.

There is a city just north of Atlanta called Doraville. It's still in the metro Atlanta area..but they have the nicest police fleet I have ever seen in any state. For traffic they have all Impala SS's,Mustangs GT's,Charger and Magnum SRT-8's, Camaro's and Corvette's..and just a few crown vicks...but get this they are all Black on black..limo tint all the way around on most of them
You know, I hardly ever post unless its important, but Doraville is sooo corrupt Junkie, you have NO idea....most are turned down by APD, and Doraville takes them in cause they are young and waaay too aggressive. If you have a firearm in your car they DISASSEMBLE it! Riding dirty or not....They also have the largest budget in the state for one of the smallest forces.....and they are notorious for taking your vehicle for the smallest of reasons....Watch out when in town....you'll see em 3 to 5 deep on a routine stop on the side of the road. God forbid your leaving Shooters Alley or the now defunct Roosters...they look for you.

Didn't mean to thread jack. Camaro's as police vehicles are not that bad IMHO, great hp for the buck. Mustangs were popular way back when in the Atl, and we all know how expensive they are compared to the Camaro....

Dang APD hires convicted felons and Doraville takes their rejects?..I remember when the AJC did a report on that earlier this year. I have seen Doraville in action with 5 cars on dang near every traffic stop. Also seen them wait for folks leaving "The Oasis" I always take it easy when I get on the PIB...although one time I hit the on ramp hard going from 2-85 to the PIB coming from the Eastside...low and behold there was Doraville sitting right there. I downshifted and amazingly he gave me the thumbs up. So I nodded and floored it untill I hit the Gwinnett County Line....they dont play up there.
