Wow I will never forget the day my salesmen called me when the Camaro's were available to be ordered in his workbench system. It was October 16th and I was on vacation in DC standing in front of the White House taking a picture with my cellphone when it rang. He told me they were available to be ordered now and would I like for him to hold me a slot. Of course I told him they better dang well hold me a slot. I got back into town and placed my order on the 20th. I love my car I wouldn't change a thing about it.

Like many of you, I knew more than my salesman when I ordered my 2LT Red Jewel back in March. This site was a godsend over the long months that followed. I finally got her September 2nd. Within 300 miles of bliss, someone hit the front bumper in a parking lot. Needless to say, I was crushed. Like, why couldn't you have hit my OLD car??? Anyway, just got her back out of the body shop, and they did an awesome job. I'm back on the street again, and smiling.....

I didn't order because there where not to be any Blue SS available, they were added after thanksgiving, and ordering was allowed by system in early december, ordered dec. 31, 7th at dealership, built as third for dealership may 28 (the old GM, before bankrupcy) delivered June 5, but due to selling my trade didn't get until june 25, at that time NO Camaro was built and delivered in one week.

Worth every minute of waiting!

It was not quite a year ago today, I came home disappointed from the local Dodge dealer on November 30th. I needed a rear wheel drive muscle car but I just didn't want the Challenger... I was complaining to my wife that I hope they make the new Camaro some day, then while on the Chevy web site to resarch a new truck and there it was!!! I ordered on Dec. 4th "after SS models became available in blue" then after 168 or so days I took deliver on May 27th! It is all I wanted, great sport feel, high horsepower but not a Corvette. I put 128,000 miles on my plain jane 69 Camaro driver in the 80's and had a 427 COPO Camaro for a few years, the 3000 miles I put on my 2SS/RS this summer sure brings me back and then some!!!

Well, I'm one that is still waiting to order one. I have my Silverado to thank for that. However, it will be paid off next year and I'll have one on the way.

Time goes by so quickly now, compared to our long R6P wait. I can't believe it's been a year since I ordered.

June is when I took delivery of my IOM SS/RS and i now i am getting ready to put "her" to rest for the long New England winter.

Camaro5 has been a part of the journey.

Thanks to all the moderators and the members..

I remember going to my dealer when rumors of the new Camaro would come out and they insisted it would never be built. They said I would be 1st on the list, but it won't be built. Then, in 06 the show car hit the circuit. Again they said it wouldn't be built, but I'm 1st on their list. When Transformers came out the called me to stop by and tell them what options I would want, even though there was little info on the car. Then in October I was there actually ordering it. They kept their word, I was #1 on their list and paid just under MSRP. It was built March 26, then sent to area 51 til June 8, I knew the car inside out before it arrived, had even drove a couple, but to my pleasure.......it is more than I thought it would be. It still turns heads, gets thumbs up daily, and is still a dream to drive.

How time flies by eh LOL .. Had to open the shop that morning and wait till coffee to get out to the dealer ... Then the WAIT ......... It was worth it all .. Now with 11000 km's on it and tucked away for the winter the wait begins again till spring . It will be a long winter, but at least I can go and sit in her instead of looking at the computer screen all day LOL What a year eh :-)

Time flies in sooo fast

I held off on preorder frankly due to some past bad experiences with very early shipments cars and motorcycles (and it also let me build up cash !)

This forum and community has been outstanding in terms of providing insight / learning from others experiences and maintaing excitement.

I eventually ordered my car in May this year (just around the time that GM went into chapter 11) and again - the forum has kept me going with growing anticipation as I waited for the order to come through.

Amazing how this car inception, birth and first few months of "life" have happened at one of the worst financial periods imaginable worldwide - and yet it has still been a tremendous success to date

I just got the car last week and within a day it had a badly cracked windshield and is laid up while waiting for GM screen (gets fixed tomorrow!)
so I have not had much chance to drive it yet - but I really do love this car.
It is so clear that a massive amount of thought and effort has gone into its every detail and that there has been a huge focus by the Oshawa team on the build quality.

The wait was well worth it and I am very proud to be driving a true 21st century American muscle car.

I ordered on 10/16 and received my VR 1SS on 5/18. I now have over 4300 miles, but what is amazing to me is the amount of attention these cars still get. I am going today to do a presentation on the new Camaro for a local Kiwanas club. I can't think of a car that has created the type of phenomenon the Camaro has.

I remember the announcement and then later the order process opening up. Until the announcement I was getting a Mustang since there was nothing from GM I wanted with Pontiac going away.

Then the Camaro was announced, I was in no hurry so I figured I would wait a bit an let the real Camaro lovers get theirs in first and let GM work some of the first model kinks.

Finally in April I ordered and am now driving my new Camaro, took 5 months as I did not have the good fortune of discovering this site until after I ordered, I sure wish I had found this place first, so much to learn, so much great info here.

It was well worth the wait in the long run so I have no regrets, I did hit a low point about 4 months in to it where I was just ready to go buy the Mustang since I could drive one off the lot, but the good folks here like CamaroScotty, the mob in the "Lounge", and a new friend at GM jumped in to help, a month later I was driving the Camaro.

Even now the 5 months seems like a blink of the eye, seems just like yesterday I was on the GM Camaro site, going through picking my options...

Wow. Didn't think about it. I went in on the 13th and the order was placed on the 14th. SIM 2LT RS. My car came in May 5, a month earlier than expected. I was very excited to go to the dealer and see it.
When I got there, I was confused because there was no RS badge, or Halo lights, and there were silver 21" GMPP wheels and tires on it. I said, "this is beautiful, but are you sure it is my car?" Somehow, instead of the RS option, the 21" wheel option was ordered. I was told if I did a re-order it wouldn't be delivered until Sept or Oct. So, I said, "okay, it is not what I wanted, but I will take it without the $4000 wheels, just put the 19" factory wheels back on." The answer was, "we can't do that, it would be like removing an option like air conditioning." It sat in the showroom for a month while I talked with the dealer and tried to make up my mind what to do. The dealer said since a mistake was made, they would give me the 19" factory wheels for free instead of charging me the $1100 they usually get on top of the cost of the optional $4000 wheels. (insult or joke, you be the judge) At this point, I understood it was take it or leave it, the dealer is doing nothing to help.
I love the car so much, I actually took this sour deal in hopes of selling the 21" GMPPs which were never used, I run the 19"s. I listed them on here and people were making offers of $1500 for the complete set with lugs, TPMs, mounted and balanced ready to go. (that is a joke) Stuck with an extra set and out the money at this point.
I still love the car and have been happy to have it all summer long. It is my daily driver. 50 years from now I can say I didn't give up the car. (will probably have an extra set of wheels to prove it)
