I was only going to call comp cam to get information about the preload on those lifters and see if I can get it documents as proof and to check if those lifters need to have adjustable rockers . I was going to call BTR to get recommendations on what I should use if I change lifter. I wasnt passing any blame on them at all. I was more going to go to them for help and answers on what to use because I can't go to the builder.i don't trust him. I do think the builder would know by specing the cam and working with BT the push size rods should be after he had the heads verified from the machine shop that it was decked. 060. So no blame from me is on them. My point about builder and machine shop is that I kept telling builder I hear a noise in the valve train and no explaination was giving except it has an exhaust leak and I was throughing check engine light after and he didn't even attempt to look that up. I went to machine shop with my oil for him to look at for mainly bearing wear or failure because of the sound. Machine shop guy said he heard the noise when I showed him and he said he smelled gas in my oil and to talk to builder about checking those things out. From there when I talked to builder was pretty much making excuses. Says he always smells fuel in oil and if have issues they can pull the motor and send back to machine shop. So he didn't give me any help or said let me check it out. I'm sure he was pissed cause I left over 10 messages for him to call me and left 2 on his voice mail. Not one time called me back. To me that isn't right. All the money I spent with him and time Atleast take a look especially after the machine shop you use is telling me something is wrong.
So I didn't say BTR or comp did anything wrong or want them to pay for anything. I don't think it's their fault but I'm lost looking for answers on the right way to get this fixed. The heads were done a while back and had no real noise issue until now. I think the builder installed the wrong parts with it. I would assume he would to all the pvt checks and all other things to check for. Brian specd that cam knowing the heads were decked. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk |

One of the forum members here, Pro Stock John, is a Chicago area guy. He is on the dragstrip thread a lot.
As I recall he was a founder of the old LS1 tech group. He could perhaps recommend a great shop to take your car for diagnosis/repair. Good luck!

I am a Chicago native and I can tell you 2 shops that are top notch. I myself had excellent experiences with them. First would be Nickey in St. Charles, Stefano is the owner... he is really great 630-377-1222. Speed inc in Schaumburg would be my second go to.. Tony the manager is also a great guy 847-891-0767....I know Pro Stock John uses this shop quite a bit... hope this helps

Can we Please stop talking about Adjustable Rocker Arms! Lifter pre-load is determined by pushrod length. That's it! There may be situation where a adjustable rocker arm is needed like .700-800" lift or solid lifters. But not with your current set up.

LSX that's exactly the answer I needed to know. Thank you. I can count that part out. I know you know these engines in and out. I've read that some people say you do and some say you don't. I'm not an expert on this so I'm trying to learn what I should and shouldn't do. I want to just drive the car and enjoy it

Here is a question about push rod length. When picking length do pick based on preload or the valve train geometry? Would you sacrifice valve wipe being off a little to get the correct preload?

Did I read this right all work was done by straight line performance. I have Heard nothing but bad things about this shop I live in the area. My buddy and several other people I know had nothing but issues with them. I wouldn't let them work on my go-cart
