Sorry for your troubles Steve. It sucks when people steal your stuff. Cars have a special attachment to us. The more special the car, the more we're attached...and the more likely it will attract thieves, unfortunately. Hopefully, you'll end up with a better car after insurance pays off.

IMO, no one should put any part of the blame on the owner. The thief is to blame, no one else. Reasonable measures were taken.

Before anyone decides to protect their property with deadly force, they should thoroughly understand the state and local laws. In most states, defending property with deadly force isn't acceptable. But in some, it is. For me, I'd not put my life on the line for a car. I just don't see the upside there.
