Alright y'all, need some help with my 60ft. Just recently got some 18" replica Corvette wheels and 305/45/18 555rs. I'm assuming I need to have my RPMs much higher than they were at launch.

The time slip is not the same pass as the video. I believe in the video I ran a 12.8 with a 2.1 60'.

Post your time slip..ACAMMER and others may chime in but yeah...launch RPM's need to be higher..how much depends on so much(ROFL)..tire PSI(and while the 555 is better than a street tire a true DR makes a massive difference)(I am also startin to see why drag slicks are for us stick rowers...these DR's seems to be a bit unpredictable and my understanding is slicks behave much better at the higher launch RPM's these cars need to get off the line....and seat time....see my next post!

Great pass man. That thing is leaving strong! Shifting looks good, whole pass was nice! It sounds like so much rpm on the launch, but it takes it all and is obviously working. That's awesome to see your improvement. I'm thinking of what it might take to get you an 11.xx slip. Another 10th out of that 60' would have you real close. A cam would get you there no problem. Maybe next year?

Seems like you're off to a good start. With a good tire I think you're right, you'll need some more rpm. You want the full application of power just as soon as you can bring it in - your first 15'+ of motion were clutch slip at part throttle. I'm not sure you want that much clutch slip - you might get a dead pedal building that much heat, and you're definitely giving up time in the 60' which will of course hurt the whole run.

Looks like stock gears, right? On an almost 29" tire you might be able to trap in 3rd - are you sure you're not shifting a little early? Might help tack on a few mph, won't do much for the ET.

Just need more seat time. I would first decide on how you want do to you clutch release/throttle application. A quicker release and a quick roll to wide open is much more "repeatable" than a long and slow release like in your video, and will help with consistency. Once you've got your clutch/throttle launch worked out then just start working the rpm up. Start at like 3000rpm, and add 500rpm or so every pass till you get wheelspin on the clutch release. Then subtract a little out to find the most she'll take without knocking the tires off.

Especially with 3.45's it's a balancing act between bogging the engine, and spinning the tires. You can compensate for that some with a longer clutch release, but that's hard on the clutch and very hard to be consistent with.

You could make some gains in your shifting as well. That's can become a question of how aggressive and hard on the car do you want to be. I don't consider myself a violent power shifter, but I definitely don't have anywhere near as much "off throttle" time as you do. That translates into trap speed. Fast shifts won't gain you much in ET, but they make a pretty big difference on speed.

But again - solid start. I would think with some more practice you'll find several tenths there.

For what it's worth, this is what my 12.59 pass looks like. That's on some worn out, $107ea crappy street tires. I'd love to try to run a 1.6 60' on drag radials and see just how deep into the 12's I can go. Note that I've got a 4.10 rear end, which translates to a significantly lower launch rpm, and then street tires require it be lower still. But it'll give you a loose idea one what a fast clutch release and a couple of quick shifts sounds like. There are a lot of guys that make my pass look like crap - maybe we can get one of them to chime in.

I appreciate the feedback, that's exactly what I was looking for. I kinda figured more RPM and a quicker slip would be much more beneficial for me. I was smelling much more clutch this last go around than I did before, I think I was slipping more because I didn't want to be that guy with a snapped axle lol. Yeah I'm stock gears and I was surprised myself when I had to shift into 4th before the traps because when I was on street tires I could run thru in 3rd.

you may want to consider startin your own thread just to keep stuff straight, don't mind the jack to help out...

what suspension mods to you have? wheel hop breaks axles and lower T/A's and rear sub-frame bushing upgrade helps with this...I have launched as high as 6000....the 1LE axles are a great intermediate upgrade before going aftermarket..good luck!

Sorry man, wasn't trying to Jack the thread lol. Figured I would post in it since there has been a lot of good info in it. But yeah I just recently did TAs and outer bushings. Plan to also do the extreme anti roll bar from BMR as well. The info I got is exactly what I was looking for! Keep up the good work man!

TKS! And until I get the launch down adding another variable at this time would just add to the learnin curve...seriously thinkin slicks is going to be the solution...and if/when I go into the motor the heads would be upgraded/replaced along with the cam...so much research and the relationship between the 2 makes this(IMHO) a must....and of course the drive train would need a bit more tweakin to handle the power increase...any who that's down the road a fer piece...peace out!

BTW- I REALLY like the idea of a de-stroked LS3...4.8 crank/rods...can you say 8k shifts baby?

That's awesome! I'm on the same mission as you. I made a few test hits on the mh 18" slicks with no burnouts and in about 40° weather and they held their own. No spinning what so ever. I can't wait to try them out on the track. They may help you get into the 11s as well
