I grabbed a Rockford Fosgate P300-10 Punch from Amazon for $190 and a universal 4 gauge amp wiring kit with 100 amp in-line fuse for another $30.
Very easy to install and I just spliced into a rear deck speaker for the signal. Adds just the right amount of depth the system was missing and now it sounds perfect. Plus, the amp and sub are in one 25 pound box that is secured in the trunk by Velcro and can easily be removed via quick-disconnect for the cables when you need more trunk space or want to reduce the weight for a track day!

The BA in the Camaro is not bad, but the Bose in my humble Trax LTZ sounds better. The latter has a sub-woofer and also has more clarity in the XM receiver.

But, yeah, adjusting the EQ in the BA system separately for each source will greatly improve the sound, unless you want window rattling bass. In that case, you probably are already considering an upgrade. Not me; I'm more into lyrics than windows rattling.

^Subwoofers make great upgrades, and the BA is a good candidate for an aftermarket sub.

so I saw in the Z28 forum here the guys were adding the kicker amp and sub woofer. but not to the boston accustic , read the thread and the guys did say it didn't work with the mylink /ba system. does anyone know the gm part number or if there is a stock amp that helps? I like my ac/dc loud!

You're talking about the GM kicker amp upgrade. A GM only part if you want it plug and play. Only works with the non BA mylink radio with CD player. Search GM parts.

Hey guys I took my car for a drive today. Here's something odd I found on stereo today.

Ok so if I'm playing rock or whatever and turn the volume to 20, it has a fairly decent sound with some punch to it. But at 20 and the windows down it's still kind weak in the volume. But as soon as I go past 21 to 23 on the volume, the bass goes flat and the mids and highs start to just get louder but lose definition in the sound quality.

So while I was driving I went into the options and set auto volume to low. That alone really changed the sound. Keep in mind my volume is still at 20. So then I set the auto volume to medium and holy crap it sounded good and was really crisp! I didn't get a chance to set it to high and see what it would've done.

Ok so what the issue here? I mean I can turn the auto volume off but if I turn the volume up, the stereo seems very "weak". Turn on the auto volume and it sounds like a different system lol??? Is this how it works on these BA systems or do I have a issue somewhere? This was all observed while driving and not sitting still.

Did the same to my 1LS without the BA system. Sounds great!
So this can be hooked into the Camaro with the BA system as well?
Thought I saw something awhile back about the way deck speakers are wired couldn't tap into them like I did on the other Camaro without the BA system.
Anybody know for certain?
Thanks in advance!

Side note wife's BA system in her regal sounds great

It will work as long as you tap into the correct wire to receive signal. I literally spliced off the wires just before they reach the speaker. It doesn't rob any voltage or quality from the factory speaker because it has its own amp. It just needs signal to amplify and broadcast.

I have the same observation. I think when auto volume turns up the volume as speed increases, it also tweaks the EQ. That's my impression, anyway.

Yeah it does something to improve the sound quality no doubt. Very weird.....

I have to say that my 2015 Nissan PRO-4X with the factory Rockford Fosgate sound system in it sounds MUCH better than the Boston Acoustics in my 2010 Camaro and my former 2011 Camaro. Does not compare.

Thanks, that's exactly what I did in the other Camaro without the BA system. Works great!

Do you happen to remember the colors of the two wires tapped into?

I know this is a year+ later I but wanted to share the update regarding my issue that's plagued me since I bought this car. The problem described above has been addressed. Hopefully if someone else has this issue, this may be something to look for especially when buying second hand. Check out my recent thread below.
