If you want it at the crank, you probly won't need to go as far as all of these people are saying, I'd think just a CAI, exhaust, and a tune would get you to 500 at the crank, considering you're looking at a (most likely) under rated 422hp at the crank stock.

I'd say a grand, give of take a few hundred bucks.

Thanks. I don't need to go crazy and I'm sure after 4-5 years I'll want something new so I don't like to drop alot on mods I won't see $$ back on.

You are forgetting that it is going to be hard to keep the 422 crank HP on the ground nevermind 500 WHP.

I am not sure what the final tire size is on the SS but I would suspect it is only going to be like a 255. That is no where near enough rubber to run this sort of power. The vette can do a wide body Z06 coversion and then fit 315's under there. I don't see this being possbile for the camaro. I would think the thickest rubber you will be able to run is 275-285 without hitting the fender well.

The stock tires on the SS are 255's for the front and 275's for the rear

Getting the power to the ground has less to do with how wide the tires are than it does with what the tire compound is. At a minimum, you will need a good drag radial to get that kind of power down. Forget about any street radials being able to do it. I know by experience.

i plan on doing exactly what i did with my twin turbo g35.

I had the an extra set of stock rear wheel widened by 2 & 1/4 inches, picked up some 25mm spacers & stuffed 315's in the rear.

not sure the exact route I'll take with the Camaro, until I get her home & do some measurin'...

There's a guy in Houston that does the same widening of wheels that I looked into a while ago. I decided to hold off since the Camaro was up and coming.

Very cool set up.^^

That a nice welding job The widening of the rear wheels offers what performace gains exactly? I know more tire on the road at launch might make it quicker.. If so, by how much and what else does or would it improve besides looks..
