In Process
Thanks for the input. I am in the middle of painting mine and used masking tape with a razor edge for trimming out the stripes. I am not an expert by any means but found when I sanded with a medium grade it down before primer I could see every sand mark through the primer. I have done some wet sanding in between two other prime coats and now smooth as glass. Tomorrow the Rally Yellow goes on. Like I said I am a back yard painter so hope all goes well. Can't wait to see the finished product!

I believe you, never used Chrome paint before. Maybe the chrome paint does not need to be clear coated ? Someone here will usually know the answer. That's the great thing about this site!

My finished product
Just finished mine over the weekend. Here are some pics. Didn't notice a couple of them that had reflections on them. Had a light shining over it. Also did the Hood liner too. Thanks for the ideas guys! This thread was very helpful!

How big of a b-witch is it removing the hood pad. I removed the pad on my '88 Camaro to get to the louvers and mess the pad up. Yours and the others pad look great.

The hood pad is held by several buttons that just plug into the holes. Use a fork type tool to pry up under the button and they just lift right out. When installing just plug them back in the hole. Not hard to do at all.

I just slipped two fingers under each "Button" pulled a little and they popped right out...Didn't even hurt them at all, and they went right back in with no problem
