Yes,the housing is different. You can pick them up off of eBay and you shouldn't spend more then $800. It all depends on how long you wait for the right deals to come through.

I forgot to update this thread with my install!

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96496

I drove over to St. Louis and picked up this set for a cool $200. Installed them on Thursday along with my heritage grille. Did what you did and wired it to the add-a-circuit placed in #15. used a 5A fuse.

$200 for both RS headlight housings?! That's a great deal. Was it a private sale or does the guy have more?

What are the OEM HID bulb's temperature? Is it 4300K, 6000K, 8000K, 10,000K?

Seeing this picture makes me wish I would have stuck to my original plan to go with the Amber CCFL's versus the LEDs...(didd CCFL on the Afterburners). But then I wouldn't have been able to do the dual colors. Those look awesome!

NO JOKE! I'd like to get my hands on a set if RS for $200! Unless of course I'm reading this wrong! My new non RS headlights cost me more than that!

Looks a lot better with the RS headlights and the heritage grille. I'm thinking about getting the grille, but not sold on it yet. I kind of wanted to wait and see what else comes out.

I think i ended up using a 3 amp fuse which is the smallest one I have.

Nice job!

I would just go get a BFXenon HID kit. They have like 25% off going on right now so I ended up paying like $200, and doesn't take long at all to install.

I was about to go that route but I liked the looks of the OEM RS lights with the halos.

I just finished my non-RS to RS OEM HID w/Halo's upgrade, Purchase a set of OEM HID w/Halo's. Then I purchased the wiring harness from Todd over at ottobody. Everything hooked up and works perfectly. Here's a few pic of before and after...

This really is a pretty simple upgrade. I did it by myself this morning...

Looks great! Nice job. Did you end up going the relay route then? From what I saw everything looked good.

No, I scraped the relay idea and just hooked up the halo's directly to the running light wire. (after clipping the running light wire) As directed in the instructions. After thinking about for an extended period. I felt this was the proper way to install them. And I could not be more happy with them. With this setup. I have 4 modes of operation. 1st -(DRL) HID w/halo's, 2nd - just Halo's 3rd - Halo's and fogs 4th - just fogs' the ottobody wiring harness is the trick to making it all come together, Works perfect too. And I did it in a couple of hours by myself. Even removin the front bumper myself. Anyway, it is much easier to remove the bumper. If you first remove the plastic underfender well guards. Couple of screws and a couple of push clips. made life much easier. So if anybodies thinking of doing this mode. I say don't be afraid and go for it.

I read this whole thread, but still a little confused. Does this route allow you to have the dual HID Halos like the RS, or is it just a Halo headlight? Was thinking of adding halo's to my LS, but I wanted the RS style.
