it also takes alot more smarts to know that 415hp from a 4l motor is useless considering it has less then 300ftlbs.......thats why mercedes is the smarter car....there is a line between better engineering and overengineering with no benefit....bmw crossed that line....thats why the $80k m5 looses to the $60k CTS-V because the interior is nicer and the car is faster. Just because you Can put a throttlebody on every cylinder doesnt mean it makes a better motor.....

The 3 series line-up is getting a slight update (for 2010 I think?). Here is their ,new to the US, diesel model which is the first of the 3 series to get the face lift - out now I believe. Even with this update, I prefer the looks of the Camaro. The Audi A5/S5 however, is a lot closer to the Camaro as far as great looking cars go.

Let me do some math for you.

Camaro 420hp 400lbs 0-60 in 4.6-4.8

M3 415hp 275lbs 0-60 in 4.3

How? well BMW conserved weight across the entire car and along with saving over 100lbs on the small V8, the engine revving to 8400rpm allows longer acceleration.

Big difference between Engineering and Power

Now your argument that the NEW CTS-V beats the OLD M5... the car it was DESIGNED to beat, is almost pointless. About the same as arguing the Camro is better than the 09' mustang. The V is an amazing car, and the LS engines are great powerplants, but great cars stay on top and set the bar for years. Lets see if the V is still on top after the new M5 comes out.

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

I really don't like the way the BMW looks and never will. I also don't like the Mercedes vehicles look as well.. To me I see too many of them on the road and all it screams to me are people that are stuck up on themselves.. The Camaro is the poor man's Corvette but still upper class compared to the smaller escort types...
