a hot cam will void your powertrain warranty.

Not necessarilly true...if you followed the above link to the Corvette forums you would see they found dealers willing to install the cam and keep the powertrain warranty.

But they won't tune for it and the tune will void the warranty regardless. It's pointless to get bent over like a drunk prom date for dealer labor when you could get it done at a reputable shop for less.

Long story short, you open the motor, kiss your warranty good bye.

As an addendum. I have friends with modded cars that have cool service managers at cool dealerships. You get in good with a service manager or find a mod friendly dealer and you'll still be able to get drivetrain warranty work done.

Besides, as its been put many times before, if they can't prove the problem was caused by what you did, they will still cover it. Most of the dealerships don't check. I've also taken my cars into dealerships and told them exactly what was wrong with a couple of my cars, and they just made sure that was, in fact, the problem, thanked me for narrowing it down for them, ordered the part, put it on and called me back to pick it up. No questions asked.
im not certified. i was planning on having it done for me at either my dealership or a dealership that will do it.

jesus, do you guys not read?

from the vette forums in regards to said hot cam swap with a retune...

so in conclusion.

-a hot cam will not void your powertrain warrenty
-neither will the retune of your pcm for said hot cam (honestly, what would be the point of offering a hot cam if it didn't include a tune to adjust for the new part?)
-lets stop speculating and giving out wrong information

These forums are like a broken record...I already said it was $2k and that it wouldn't void warranty...yet people keep questioning price and warranty. It's getting really old and quick.

^Don't let it get to you. They are valid concernes and the Dealers don't really have a reputation for being performance shops. I can see why it causes folks to get antsy about it.

I've yet to find a chevy dealer here in Jax that I truly trust to work on my cars at that level. It's kinda frustrating when you know you have to take it to the dealer to keep the warranty. But you trust Bob's Hot Rods to do it right. Again, I think the speculation is caused by not knowing what the dealership will do or say about your warranty.

LS3 was originally built for the Vette. They have experience. Experience is like gold.

I don't trust any of you

Seriously, ask the dealer that'll be fixing warrantee problems. And like the man said, get it in writing.
