I have a 2LT/RS RJT A6, the reason I choose the Automatic is that I have a bad left hip from running on steel decks on U.S. Navy ships for over 21 years and I have no desire to make it worst and end up having to have a hip replacement done, so I will gladly enjoy my Automatic Camaro.

because my the only people in my life that have a manual are my aunt with a very beautiful corvette and a uncle with and equally impressive 2002 Camaro SS and would not teach me in their cars. lol i can't blame them

My wife test drove the stick and her foot cramped up on the clutch. I want my wife to enjoy the car, and it could potentially be a safety issue with foot cramps.

It's got the paddle shift as a concelation to automatic anyway.

I picked the automatic because the car is my daily driver... that and I have a stick in my street/strip car that I can beat on whenever I like.

I'm going to have fun with the autp when I get it... and with a stick, I would find myself having TOO MUCH fun... i.e. beating on it at every stop light.

Plans are to soup the L99 up so it'll spank on the manul trans cars anyway...

Traffic, better launches, etc. It was honestly mostly the traffic situation.

I bought the A6, L99 for two reasons. Reason one is that I live in Boston and I have a six speed Harley for when I feel like shifting. I had my fill of manual transmissions in heavy rush hour city traffic. Reason two is that I love to dragrace. I am not a professional driver with a sponsor's car, I am just a Camaro enthusiast driving my own car and I know that under those circumstances the automatic will win every time. If you doubt this, look back to the 1960's, the Torqueflight Hemis would clean the clocks of the four speed manual Hemis.

I've never driven standard.
I live in Florida which is completely flat, auto works perfectly here - textbook
Car is my daily driver - in traffice manual would drive me crazy.
My right hand is better placed on my girlfriends knee...

that is one real good reason that might tip the scales for me (I haven't finalized my auto/manual decision yet)

another reason nobody mentioned is better gas mileage -- does anyone have a good feel for that?

I think the automatic does generally get a little better mileage (partly due to the AFM on the V8) ; I got real good mileage on a V6 auto one-day rental (26 overall average, 30+ highway) but most of the posts in the V6 engine forum are showing low 20's for the manual transmission

All my Camaro's have been automatics, so no reason to change.

It all comes down to this; it's easier to drive.

I've got a really bad back, have had one back surgery (one more coming up this spring), numerous procedures and many more to go of those. Even so, I test drove the 6sp manual just to rule it out. That 10 mile test drive had my back aching and all bunched up into a knot by the time I pulled it back into the lot.

Thank God for automatic transmission and heated seats and air conditioning (I use the heated seats all year round).

Even though I drive in daily traffic, the above was too much to leave on the table.
+1 -

Having never driven a Manual as a daily driver, I'd say stop and go traffic can be annoying but never enough to overcome the feeling of control over a man made beast.

One thing I really wished was that the LS3 426 HP was offered with the automatic, I don't care about gas mileage
