and once/if it gets to m3 level, it will be eligible for 2011 GT status
I really don't think anyone has wanted to buy a vehicle just because it was a V6 lol. I would bet though people have bought something just because it had a V8.

Its one thing to want an engine type because of its benefits, but its something else entirely to want it simply because of its cylinder count.

I still don't understand your point. Markets are not for 'engines'. They are for cars...and an engine is simply a part of a car...

The Malibu, Equinox, CTS, etc might fall into that category as well...

youre missing the point, true people choose cars based on a number of factors... it just so happens that some people on this planet prefer to have a car with a v6 over a v8 or inline 4.. because it may be more powerful, better fuel economy, etc...

No, I understood that part...but I think people who limit their purchase decision to an engine are a tiny minority of the buyers out there...TINY...which is why I maintain that there is no "market" to capture with just an engine.

i guess it depends how they decide what car to buy... if i had to guess i'd say people pick the type of car (coupe, sedan, truck, van, etc) first, then color, then engine/tranny... with price the main conern as they option it out...

Buying a car strictly on how many cylinders it has is different than choosing the higher-end engine on a vehicle you pick.

So then they are buying the car with the attributes they want, not because of cylinder count. If it was a V12 or a straight 5 that delivered what they wanted , they would have bought that. The fact that it is a V6 is secondary to other, more important factors.

Name calling is wrong. shame, shame......but I laughed quite a bit at that.

Me, too. Pedders seems to give us a glimpse at the potential of this car.
This is sort of off-topic, but I imagine the 6th gens will handle great....like, M3-great.

Not calling names, it's just my opinion, but I will watch me mouth.

In the import world, they talk about engine codes all the time. J-Spec this, SR20 that.

In the V8 world. The LS3 is a much better selling point than the 4.6 in the Stang.

You will find people that say, I like the Mustang, but It didn't have enough power from me, where do you think the Power comes from the Engine.

Some people buy the SRT8 model over the RT model, not for the badges, or the minor exterior upgrades, but because of the ENGINE and the power it produces.

The Engine was a huge selling point for me. I wanted a Big RWD V8, that was comfortable and nice on the inside.

I would not have bought a Toyota Avalon no matter how nice the inside was, and I wouldn't have bought a Miata, even though it was RWD. You see the Engine was a big part of it.

Believe it or not, in the Tuner world, there are many folks that don't want a V8 or bigger, but they hold a high power V6 or I6 on a pedestal.. We may not get it, but it happens.
