This would be me. I have driven a manual before and hated it. I like to put the car in drive and not have to worry about shifting it. Plus, me and the clutch do not get along. One experience of being on a hill at a traffic light and trying to let the clutch out easy but instead stalling it several times, ended me EVER wanting to drive another manual again.

By the way I don't want or need a SS, even if one was given to me, I would probably sell it and get another V6... I think for my type driving an SS would be a waste of money...
Type? Would that be the hippy type?

There is no reason not to let your wife/girlfriend drive your 2010, for the reason noted above!

that's all well and good as long as the girlfriend and the wife don't know about eachother

No matter how you slice it, the original post may have been intended for everyone, but that wasn't what she said. She said hey guys, why does having an extra appendage make you better at it?

How is that in any way different from the "observations" of bad female drivers? They both lump everyone into the same bucket because they share a gender.

I see your point. Its all in how you read and interpret it. I didnt give it a second thought though. But I'll meet you in the middle

Oh I'm not busting her balls too hard, just pointing out a little something. Alongside the fact that, like I said, this one is easy. The reason people do it is stupidity. Anyone who says "all of group a is statement b" is an idiot.

That's right, I said all of them. You know why? Because I'm bringing irony back.

So just because I'm a man I think I can drive stick and you can't? You aren't doing anything they aren't. and your initial post wasn't posed to "that group". That was a direct quote, anyone with a wang.

Oh and I said I taught two girls, neither of them were my daughter, for legal reasons (among others) I am VERY CERTAIN of that fact.

So I didn't even do it for family, sure one I was sleeping with but the other was just a friend. And she didn't ask, she offered.

Let me save you a lot of trouble and answer your question.

Some people are stupid.

End of story. Stupid people say and think stupid things, like that just because you are x gender you behave in y way (not inferring anything by the use of those letters heh).

But like I said, your response to these stupid people was to basically ask everyone with "an extra appendage" to defend themselves. Which is what a LOT of us did. So how was it any better?
So you were offended because my post made it sound like I was accusing the whole male gender of being sexist? Would it have been better had I started it “attention all guys that say women can’t drive a manual”?
BTW You sounded pretty sexist yourself when you referred to the 2 “girls” that you taught to drive a stick. Were they girls or were they women? Since you said that you were sleeping with one I would hope that she was over the age of 18 which pretty much makes her a woman. I misunderstood your post just because you labeled them girls. If you had said women instead I wouldn’t have made the mistake of thinking you were talking about family.

Just make sure your girlfriend isn't a psycho stalker, or she'll call up your wife...
Then when your wife walks out with the Camaro all your left with is a psycho and no excuse why she can't move in...
LOL

Every car I have had since 16 has been a manual. Less and less cars are being offered with them and less and less people are buying them.

A lot of younger males can't drive stick, and even less young females. I am not that old and it seems that the overall % of drivers can't drive stick-male or female.

I can tell you that many people have said I have a manual....and then point out the tap shifters on their auto They seriuosly don't know the difference.

When we were buying my last car (the CTS) I actually had other salesman come and want to see who was getting the manual CTS...and they assumed it was for my husband who was with me...When they realized it was for me a few more came over to take a look

My dear I don't get offended, that would suggest I let it bother me.

As for "girl" being sexist, sorry nice try but only feminazis can argue that and then only on the grounds they are borderline insane.

You know the last time I said "man"? About the last time I said woman.

Guys and girls, chicks and dudes. If you have a problem with that, it's all in your head.

Now if I said "I taught these two little cupcakes how to drive stick" ok, or even if I said "one of them was a piece of ass" but I didn't now did I. And that is hardly the same league as you aiming your shotgun at every guy on the board. And yeah, considering "to all the guys who think women can't drive stick" totally changes it, and doesn't implicate all the rest of us...I think it's safe to say that would be better.

btw, mainly I'm making an issue out of this because I am kinda sick and tired of everytime a GIRL (*quiver*) comes across a jackass guy painting all women (happy now? I've now used woman, or a plural thereof, more than the word man...well crap now it's even...) with a particular brush, their response is to turn around and "confront" all guys. Which is not only a waste of time but also pretty ironic considering your problem was that somebody assumed that because of your gender statement a must be true.

I'm not coming in here stomping on you I'm just pointing out that as unpleasant as you feel when it happens to you, you aren't doing much better by making us all defend ourselves over the actions of others. And mis-worded or not, look at the response, a LOT of them were "I've no problem with it" or "I taught so and so how to" or "my wife does better than me".

For the record once again I'm not offended or looking for an apology, just pointing out how it felt and how it seems it may have felt to others.
