A. The “Z28” moniker has an honored place in Camaro’s history. But as of now,
Chevrolet will not have a Z28 model available in the first production year.
Chevrolet continues to review market opportunities and does not comment on
future product plans.

Combined with Scott's earlier comment about the hallowed Z28, I can't help but believe the possibility is there. A lot depends on the economy and how well these new Camaros sell. Maybe a limited production with premium sticker price if there is enough interest shown. Those who desire a Z28, I am at least entertaining the idea if they come about, need to make ourselves heard on the forums. Particularly the Z28 forum. GM reads these forums, make enough noise and we could see limited edition at least, not this year, but maybe next year or two. Hi GM, I wouldn't mind a Z parked next to my SS. Wouldn't that be a sub 12 sec. quarter miler?
I believe there will be one EVENTUALLY, but with the way the market is now, the public's reaction to gas guzzling V8's, gas prices, and how bad financially GM is doing now, it's just not in their best interests. It would be simple for them to make one considering they already have the engine in one of their other cars (CTS-V or ZR1) and the drivetrain is supposed to handle that power already.

I've wondered about something, and it's probably on this site somewhere. How is the Z28 now supposedly/hopefully the top of the line model when the 4th gen top of the line model was the SS?

+100000

I'm not planning on having a first year SS ... I'm not even sure t would be possible regarding the production delays.

But on year two, making a 550HP Z28, and I'm your man.

By Z28 I mean I'd be happy with just some kinda "option", kindapack with a big engine and everything updated on the mechanical side. I don't need a new "ricer like" style.

Take a V6, put a supercharged V8, then I'll be the happiest guy alive!

This made my day ... I feel the lost hope coming back!

It seems that instead of not having some color available on the SS, they should have had some SS only colors, nothing really off the wall that no one would buy though.
Sounds like a pretty good reason to start offering a choice of noses so you can get an SS in any color!

I wonder what a red jewel tint coat would look like on a rally yellow. Would it make it more golden in appearance or more orange?

They better not, I can't get my Camaro for a few years and I NEED a V8.

As for the options, love that remote keyless entry is standard

At least that's how it was described when my 83 was being built.
To lower the cost of the car and decrease production time most companies don't do this anymore as it takes time and money to do this after every vehicle. Instead they do them in batches, say red is their first color (we really don't know which color is first) then they will take all cars that are to be red and do them all first before moving on to the next color. I'm not sure if GM does this as well but I would suspect so.

Here's how they do it for the Corvette. In batches of 10 or so before switching colors.

Red Jewel Tintcoat is a completely different color than black.

It's coming down between Black, Cyber Gray Metallic, or Silver Ice Metallic for me. And by the way...

There were several reported quotes that GM was working on getting it to 27, that they published the number in an official document confirms they are confident that they will do so.
