Now I made up these numbers since we do not know what they are, however since that $200 for the painted midnight grey rims is added onto the standard rims you get with the base SS, tell me why is that price not deducted from the RS package when ordering the $500 polished wheels and 1,000 Rs package combined?

The RS package is cheaper for the SS buyer than the LT buyer to offset the duplication.

oh my...

no, it does not offset the duplication. if you want the rs and polished rims, you have to pay 1200 for rs(on the ss) and 500 for the polished rims. which isnt fair because the 1200 includes the price of the painted rims, which you are no longer getting. get it?

rolnslo helped clear Supermans logic a bit, but i now understand.
tsg1391 is spot on.
the price of RS Midnight Silver rims should be deducted from an otherwise price of RS Polished rims, since the buyer is swapping one option for the other, not adding to, the RS Midnight Silver rims. redundant? yes, but i hope this helped clear things up a bit more...

No different than the SS buyer. He is swapping silver painted rims for the polished rims. The difference is some people accept that the polished wheels cost $500.00 more than the painted wheels and others think they should be getting a discount because the RS and SS packages include painted wheels.

hylton, the ss buyer isnt paying extra for the silver rims, they are standard. if you had to pay for the silver rims on the ss and then 470 for the polished, that would be unfair, correct? that is exactly what is happening with the rs package.

you are paying for two different finishes of wheel but only getting one.

All options in a package, are priced into that package accordingly. So the 20 inch wheels that are included in the 1SS at MSRP $30,992, have been added to this base price. If the 1SS did not have the wheels, the MSRP would have been lower so either way, you pay for the "extra" wheels as you call it. Understand what I am saying?

Regardless of the package, you paid for a set of wheels you will not be getting. Think of it this way - the RS package includes 20 inch wheels. The $470 polishes those wheels. Maybe they should have called RPO Q9J "Polish your RS or SS wheels" instead of what they did.

Look at it another way - you cannot go to your dealers parts department and order Q9J wheels for $470.00 bucks. They will probably be listed for $1,200 a set.

you just proved my point. you dont have to pay 1200 when you upgrade to polished because you are already paying for the wheels themselves in the msrp. so say you pay for the silver wheels in the msrp. then you want to get rs. so now you pay the 200-300 or however much of a portion it is of the rs package to get them painted midnight silver. then you pay to get them polished. does that not seem unfair? we are paying for the wheels first. then for them to be painted. then for them to be polished

I think it should be an even swap....let the buyer decide and go with either. I would think the polished would be more popular anyway.

An even swap wouldn't make sense since the polished rims price is higher than both the standard and the midnight rims. We can all agree you are paying for an upgrade to midnight rims as part of the RS package which I estimate may be around $200. So $200 dollars less for the polished rims (this is an estimated price upgrade for the midnight silver rims) when ordering both RS package and polished rims at the same time would be fair. There is still time to fix this pricing problem (in my eyes) by mid November. I would change my order and add the RS package if the price was lowered accordingly.

RS package with 1SS or 2SS is $1,200 msrp

polished aluminum $470 dollar upgrade.

The combined RS package and polished aluminum should be around $1470 if you subtract $200 from the total price. (Again for those that are only skimming thru, the $200 is my guess of the price for the upgrade of painted midnight silver wheels which comes with the RS package over the standard painted silver wheels that you pay for and don't get with the current ordering scheme.)

I know that $200 or $300 may not be a lot to some of you and many wouldn't care about such a detail and will go ahead and order anyways without complaining. However any little amount that comes off will change the monthly payments and in the long run can add up to more than just $200-300..

The polished wheels option is only available to those who have ordered a model that comes with 20 inch wheels. Someone with an LS or LT with no RS cannot get this option.

Let's assume you have a model with painted 20 inch wheels - how much extra would you be willing to pay to get polished wheels instead of your painted wheels? GM thinks you should pay an extra $470.00.

I would also like the option to be a "no charge" thing but this is not new to Camaro. Ask a guy driving a GMC Yukon with the factory polished wheels if he had to pay a premium.

Tag - your 4th gen has polished wheels. Wasn't that a premium price over the painted SLP wheels? Same thing applies here.

since no one else has done this yet, i call:

and until GM releases official distribution of pricing within the RS option(if at all, meaning splitting cost for options within the $1200 price tag):

though you all bring up good points, these discussions are being regurgitated

.
that is a fair price. but it is not fair to have to pay for them to be painted-when you have a model with 20 in wheels it is included in msrp-then have to pay for them to paint them midnight silver when they arent, they are polishing(which you also pay for)

thats it, im done. if you dont get it now you never will

aftermarket HID - Legal?

I looked for aftermarket HIDs for another car and couldn't find anything street legal. Are the ones you mention legal in all states?
