Here's a few ideas...

1. Quit posting so many smilies. Its f'n stupid.

2. Take your own advice about growing thicker skin. You're acting like a girl.

3. Realize a masters degree in English means exactly dick in the automotive engineering world. If you want to chest pound about that, go to an english forum.

Hmm... bizarre thread.

Basic thing here is that in real terms Callway, SLP and Hennessey are all selling variations on a theme of addons at premium prices which put their products in line with the price of a Z06.

While some folks may want to spend the amount of money for the specific badge and the associated assurance that the parts all play nice together - other folks can see that broadly speaking it is the same CAI, exhaust/headers and supercharger kits that they can get elsewhere and all the emroidered headrests, carpet mats and serial numbered dash plates are just fluff if you have the extra cash.
To each their own but fact is that there is a lot of well established "builds" now on the camaro especially since it is built on a well proven LS3 base engine.

Each major builder will argue about their specific element of special engineering pixie dust but reality is that there is a lot of commonality and quite a bit of cost adder on the parts for the privilege of buying the brand name (I am still recovering from hearing that Hennesey wants $500 for fitting their $500 front and rear sway bars.... 12 nuts total / $500.... wow !)

One can continue to comment about the price point of $90 grand and say how completely stupid it is... But have you driven the car? I know fair and well that a person can get into a Callaway Camaro for just $16,990 over sticker price of their favorite SS. A Camaro 1SS with cloth seats and a six speed stickers around $32K - $33K bringing your total investment in a car that HOLDS its VALUE to just shy of $50K. (Not that someone would want a high end sports car with cloth seats, BUT IT CAN BE DONE!)

You can slap on aftermarket components and call your car amazing, but does it have a factory warranty? NO! It may be covered by a small warranty from the maker of the component, but that doesn't change the fact that the instant you throw in a component not authorized by the factory (Chevrolet) then you're simply out of luck. With Callaway you not only get coverage on their components with a 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty, but you are also still covered by your original Manufacturers Warranty. Callaway is the only "SMALL PERFORMANCE MANUFACTURER" (not tuner) to be noticed by Chevrolet as an "Acceptable Performance Manufacturer."

This Camaro may not be for you but is for many people out there. I know of a dealer in Nebraska which has sold many of the Callaway Camaro SC572's because it is an extremely reliable, well built, refined, and rare product. Everyone can have their own opinion thats why free speech is free speech, but don't judge the product before you have driven it. Callaway Camaro's are available for you to test drive, just ask.

Callaway Cars creates commercial value by providing driving enthusiasts with maximum satisfaction. They produce specialty vehicles, engineering services, and performance products that showcase technological sophistication, artistry in design, and beauty in craftsmanship. They truly make "Powerfully Engineered Cars" which are 50 State Emissions compliant, and meet all manufacturer standards. Just call Callaway and ask, call Chevrolet and ask, you can't go wrong with a Callaway. At the end of the day don't you want the most for your money? Don't you want to know that there is someone out there who actually will stand behind their product? Talk with any Callaway Dealer, they won't sell you a car for your money, they will cater a Corvette or Camaro to your needs whether its $50k or $300K.

Seriously, guys you keep going on about this warrenty, for 90K I could buy two cars plus upgrades for the one and then if one destroys itself I can then go drive my other one, or instead of buying another car just line up three drive trains incase I destroy one or two.
This is the exact reason I like to smoke the Super Snakes, all that money and they are in the rear view, that to me would speak volumes about the product I bought more than anything else. Sorry, but I will pass on the Callaway even though I can afford it. I didn't make my money by wasting it!!

Very pleased with my Callaway Camaro

As a personal owner of a Callaway Camaro, (not to mention the first automatic callaway camaro sold for retail), i am extremely pleased with the upgrades that Callaway put on my car. It is very quick and the response when accelerating is unbelievalbe. The car sounds amazing and super smooth when shifting through the gears. Callaway did a excellent job and it is a good feeling to know that if something were to happen in the next 3 years Callaway/GM will stand behind it. For all of you complaining about the $90,000 price tag, you have to remember that is for all the options and yes it is a bit expensive, I got my Callaway Camaro, which has the same power that the one edmunds tested, for $20,000 plus the price of the Camaro.

Once again thanks Callaway. I'm very pleased with the preformance of my car!

AK'SS- Your Camaro SC572 is sweet! Looks great with the custom painted gf-x and other things you have done! Your car is a sleeper as well as one which will be very rare because of the Callaway name. You were smart to go with a package from someone who specializes in creating great cars that are well engineered. Look forward to seeing your Callaway this weekend in York for the Poker Run!

I will be there with a demo SC572 for anyone who wants to check it out. You could buy as many camaro's as you want, or you could line up the drivetrain/powertrain in dozens, but all that is telling me is that you aren't sure that your add-ons and modifications are reliable.

Spend the extra money and spend it once, don't dump money continuously on fix after fix.

Now that sounds reasonable for what we are talking about here, I would pay another twenty for the mods you are talking about. Still not sure what another thirty four would buy me though? (Suspension, brakes, and ground effects?) Maybe that seems to be what the rest of the forum is questioning here? I am sure most can believe in twenty for the engine mods but the rest may be a little much for those looking for a "bang for the buck" type deal.

Thanks, missed that ! And that's "As Tested".

All those pissing about is the price:

Callaway Camaro SC572 Package ($16,990 -- includes supercharged L99 V8 with Eaton TVS2300 supercharger, water-to-air intercooler, high-flow fuel injectors, intake system, exhaust system; embroidered floor mats and headrests, door sill panels);

That would equate to around $50k.

Some of you guys are just plain ignorant with you comments.

The only thing I will agree upon is the price is outrageous, but a lot of you guys were missing the point you are getting one of the best engineered Camaros in the world. Something that will do good on the roadcourse and the 1/4 track.

Yea you can take your car to some shop and get the work done for cheaper, but you can't take it to a dealer to get fixed like a Callaway car under WARRANTY. Plus they hold their value too. I could be wrong, but I think LPE and Callaway are the only two tuners that GM authorizes and both are listed in the NADA or in the black book

The dealer where I bought my car (Dimmitt Chevrolet in Tampa) is a Callaway dealer as well.

This last weekend I had my car in for an oil change, and decided to check out the showroom.

Lo and behold, in the showroom, a Callaway Camaro SC572. No Carbon Fiber body kit, so it was just the suspension and supercharger (and associated bits), as well as custom wheels, and that ran for +18k over MSRP, for a total of under $60k (fairly well appointed LS3 SS2).

That's really not bad for an optioned up GT500 fighter.

Thanks for the positive response! You are right, not bad, at all

In fact, most of the Callaway Camaros we build, are in the $55,000 - $65,000 range, depending on how the Camaro is equipped - most Callaway Camaros have our "Power Window" hood, fixed valve suspension, and often have our wheels. This adds between $16,990 and $26,000, typically

Here is one dealer with several Callaway Camaros in stock or on order:
