If useless cluttered threads are what bother you, why do you even come on here. Name ONE section that doesn't have useless cluttered posts. At least this thread has some substance. You could spend HOURS in the General Discussion section. I don't see you in there though. Thanks for adding to the clutter though.

Any CAI that has a heatshield is covered. All but one or two of them are open in the area in the front and bottom of the filter area.

You're right axis. When 90% of these forums are garbage (thanks to posts like these), the odds are against me. This one was just more ridiculous than usual, so I decided to exhaust my freedom of speech. I'll be part of the 10% not doing this "mod" so you'll all be faster than me AT LEAST! To the OP, you should invest in a company and make money off your "research" since you seem to have followers. None of the CAI companies were smart enough to make the same observations as you so we could ALL make 50 hp from an intake. Your genius is amazing.

You would both be the bigger men by ignoring me.

So much for the Camaro family and supporting each other. Good job OP. Tinkering around with the vehicle, and finding ways to improve it are exciting. Keep up the good work man.

I fail to see where this is a useless thread. If removing this piece increased fresh air to the filter area, what could possibly be bad about that? Will it add noticeable HP, who knows but it sure can't hurt. Just like old saying ounces make pounds, this logic could apply here too. The big thing is that it's free. If the OP was selling a part that did this, i'd be more inclined to agree with you but he's not. This is FAR from the useless clutter in the Gen. discussion section. You can tell everyone what you did to your Camaro today, take part in the disgusted in my camaro because of the oil spill thread, try to figure out why there's spiders living on your camaro, or someone ralphed on my camaro thread. Now tell me this thread can be remotely compared to ANY of those. I'd bet $$ that this mod will add more HP than ANY of the axlebacks and there are eleventybillion of those threads.

just spoke to 4 senior mechanics at gm. they all said that with this piece removed ,which is part of the old intake system that directed airflow to our stock box they all would put money on we would have gotten better numbers on a dyno ..maybe i went to far on this and im sorry for the clutter .but i think we may have something here .and yes i am the better man by not backing down from certain posts .just as a final note i didnt tell people to go and take off there bumper to try this .if maybe one day you have to take your bumper off for some reason check out what im talking about thats all .and to you soundwave i will not ignore your ignorance im just stating what i feel and my opinion only .maybe one day we might meet and sit down and have a beer and laugh at this.but of course i will get there first unless its raining .

2150.. you're the kind of person that is the reason why forums are here, you look at something objectively and hope for a positive instead of thinking that you know everything and cast people down....you're stepsister "soundwave" on the otherhand are why alot of people have switched over to the other forum site where they dont allow this high school bashing crap, People that think they know everything there is to know about these cars have no business being on the forum unless you're a vendor trying to peddle your garbage.

Although I'm not sure of this but if I recall when doing some research on CAI, I noticed that the AIRAID had a snorkel on their box and if I recall the openning looks very much like the outlet on the vent described in this post, if so, it would appear that they utilize this, perhaps AIRAID knows something more about this
