Let me start with the 2 items below that truly need to be changed. I am sure we will need to go to the aftermarket for this, but I hope someone is working on it NOW! I am sure you will have others.

#1 My other 2 Chevy's top out at 97 MPH. The speed limiter MUST go all together (just increasing it is not an option)

#2 The traction control needs to default to OFF!
#1 The governor on the SS is set at 157 mph. I have been above 97 mph many times, including at the strip with the timing clocks. (107 - 108 mph)

#2 SLP sells a plug in accesory for the Gen 4's that do the very thing that you want. I do not know if they have them for the Gen5's yet, call them.

1. 1 press of the button shuts off the traction control.

2. 2 presses of the button puts it in competition mode. (V-8 only)

3. Press and hold turns off both the TC and stabilitrac.

4. Default is TC and Stabilitrac on.

Dunno Bout The speed limiter tho.. I havent Hit Mine, if There Is One Still On it.. only had it up to 130-135.. hey i t was an emergency.. there was lots of bleeding envovled... Side Note Tho made it to the Hospital in record time..
ASR = Acceleration Slip Regulation
I see that you are talking about a fourth generation. Here is what happened to me on the day that I traded in my 1998 Z-28 for my 2002 SS. I was getting onto rt 128 from 93 north which is a long curved ramp. I thought that it would be fun to drift the curve at the end of the ramp. I broke the back wheels loose and I had forgotten to turn the TC off. The gas pedal lifted from the TC (on gen 4's, the gas pedal pushes your foot up when the ASR kicks in) and the car's ass end came around hard to the left. I counter steered and it came around to the right. I counter steered again and it came around to the left and I slid accross three lanes of rt 128. I was lucky, I did not hit another car or anything else. When I got to work, I prctically needed to empty the sh$t out of my pants. Remember, I was trading this car after work! I had successfully done this manuever many times before but I had never forgotten to turn off the TC first. My friend with a gen 4 Trans AM bought the gadget from SLP that makes his car default to off.

Camaro Top Speed Governor - info directly from GM

Just got an official response from Chevy about each model's top speed limiter - this was really hard to get, so I hope you guys appreciate it. I've sent at least a dozen messages to GM before someone slipped it under their lawyers radar and got me a real answer:

"Thank you for contacting Chevrolet and for your interest in the 2010 Camaro! We appreciate the time you have taken to write us.

The Camaro top speed is determined by the tire on the vehicle. The 18" tires have 118 mph top speed, while the 19"/20"/21" tires have 155 mph top speed."

This means you can get
the 2010 Camaro 2LT which comes with 19" rims and a 3.6L V6 engine and still go 155 mph, same as the V8.

Thank you for the confirmation on the speed governors.

I have a 2SS, been driving a lot of years, but I still would like to have some professional training to be a better driver.

The highest speed limit I think I ever seen was 70 or 75 Mph.

I'm inner-city, so 45 and 30 Mph I see all the time.

155 Mph on the streets is nuts to me.

Yes, I can't imagine driving that fast anywhere in the north-east where I live now. I did drive 130mph + when I was working in Germany on the German Autobahn and the Italian autostradas, but here in the US, it's hard to find a road where it would be safe - the roads are just not smooth enough anymore. Anything past 90mph seems unstable.
I pushed it a few times down in the Carolinas on I-95, and once crossing Florida from Miami to Naples, but only at night, following some other nut...

Traction Control

Thank God for this forum!

I just bought my 2010 Camaro SS V8 M/T a few weeks back and could not figure out why it was driving so lame.

I can't believe that by default that the T/C is set automatically on.
There I am watching Yvan Muller
and thinking to myself why is my Camaro not capable of doing this??

Then I watched the Smoking Tire and the guy talking about driving with T/C off and Stability on.

I google it and found this forum and boy I am glad I did.
I finally can drive this car like it is meant to be.
Thanks for all the great post.

Yellowrs.
