We'll meet where we met for the BBQ. Off the Merle Haggard/7th standard exit.
I'm still not sure of which parking lot to meet at. I'm guessing the hotel will have enough room for all of us. But I was planning on talking to someone at 3way to see if they'll let us use the area where the old truck dealership was.

I can call Ted at 3 Way and see if he'd be okay with it. He should be since it's a vacant lot now anyway.

North side right? Wondered if they might close that one, it was a ghost town the couple times I went poking around over there...

Yep, just a few stray utility beds laying in the parking lot and that's about it.

I did some recon on our meeting place last week. There were A LOT more semi trucks at the truck stop then I expected. There may be fewer trucks at 7am (I went on my lunch hour) but I’m not quite sure. I’m going to head down there sometime soon and run it by the truck stop ppl to see if we’re ok to meet there. We should be ok since we’ll be spending $$ there and we’ll only be there for an hour, max.

For everyone’s safety (camaros and semi truck drivers) I think we should all meet along the southern-most fence at the truck stop. This was the least populated area on my survey day. To avoid any accidents I believe we should all use the last entrance (furthest south, off Golden State Blvd) so we aren’t crossing the parking lot full of trucks!

its almost time!!!!!

Here’s a closer look of the stores at this intersection:

ARCO / AMPM
16 pumps
I figure this will be our main filling station as it’s in the same parking lot as the meeting location

Shell
12 pumps
Supreme cash price $4.01 credit price $4.09

Chevron / Johnny Quick
8 pumps
Supreme $4.07

Food: subway, starbucks, burger king and taco bell

The gas prices were taken on 3/10/11 and are expected to skyrocket by the time our convoy hits town. Yippee.

Here's two pics of the back fence...we would be meeting by where the is RV in the back.

Looks good Becka.

I drove from Herndon to 120 (Manteca) today in 1 hour and 20 minutes with the flow of traffic so we should easily see you guys in Fresno by 7 on "Convoy Day"

There are a lot of pages to sort through here, maybe someone has the quick answer. Does the San Diego group have a drive plan yet? I have a small group in Yuma AZ and would love to drive into Phoenix with a larger convoy. I see mention of some California groups going through Quartsite on the 10, but wasn't sure if anyone is traveling over on I-8 instead. Thanks in advance!

The last info that I saw from the San Diego group was that they were thinking of meeting up with us at Morongo Casino and heading out on the 10E.

If anybody from the San Diego group would like to correct me, please do so.

Thanks, I got the impression that might be the case. I think it would be worth driving up to Blythe or Quartsite to connect in with the awesome line coming in from California.

This is our tentative schedule:

So lets plan backwards based on that time and allow for commute traffic in the Phoenix area that someone mentioned.

Pleasanton to Bako (fuel up) is 260 miles (EB 580 - EB 205 - NB 5 - EB 120 - SB 99) picking up Sac, Modesto/Merced and Fresno (break) and Bako (fuel) (4 1/2 hrs to be safe).

Bako to Cabazon is 205 miles ( EB 58 - SB 395 - SB 15/215 - EB 10) meeting with SoCal (4 hrs/safe)

30-45 minute break (fuel up)

Cabazon to Quartzsite AZ (93 octane) is 160 miles (EB 10) 80 MPH is 2 hrs (cause there's nothing out here.....)
Quartzsite AZ (fuel up) to Chandler (Courtyard/Marriot) is 150 miles (EB 10) 80 MPH is 2 hrs but figure in traffic in Phoenix, so 2.5 hrs

13ish hours to be there by 6-6:30 puts us leaving Pleasanton by no later than 5AM. So Depart at 5AM, hook up with Sac in Manteca at 5:30; hit Fresno around 7:15-7:30, leave Bako around 9:30, Cabazon around 1:30, leave by 2 to make Quartzsite by 4 and then onto Chandler by 6-6:30 depending on traffic.

So it looks like we will get to the Casino around 1-1:30. I way over estimated the time from Pleasanton to Cabazon but we'll see how long the gas/breaks/meets take.
We are thinking of leaving the Cabazon area no later than 2pm, so if it does indeed take us 2 hours to get to Quartzsite, than we should be rolling through there around 4pm.
