Solo cat install/fuel smell?

Ok bolt on gurus... I'm hoping first that I'm posting this in the right section. I installed a set of Solo high flow cats a couple weekends ago and I'm noticing a strong fuel smell now. I can't locate an exhaust leak. (at least not audibly anyway) Thought maybe there might be a leak at the manifold connection causing exhaust smell to get into the car. My question is of course, Is this normal? No CEL and the car is running great. I'm just wondering if everything is okay or maybe a tune would help? The smell is strong at startup and seems to fade slightly as it warms up but doesn't go away. Has anyone else had this? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
Only other mod is a CAI intake. Cat back is still stock.

Prob the hi flow cat...flowing more. Tune may help some...but not all. Pick up a couple more mods and go get it tuned.

High flow cats and not tuning is what I believe might be causing the odor. Remember these cars run pig rich to heat the cats up quickly in cold starts. IMHO you should of gotten the Lt's and tuned it. Even with a catless mid pipe you won't smelling it with a good tune.

Hehe... mine must be running pig rich then. I wouldn't worry about it mr. Angry irish. The prius owners are towing our line. I love the smell.

Its just a GTO Reservoir that GM for whatever reason discontinued using

I posted the link for a complete kit (fittings/hoses/bolts etc..)

Also while you guys *Mudflap* are doing this, consider the IdealG Clutch Master Cylinder as well. It was like $200 but was phenominal. It is in the same area so I did both at once on my car.

IdealG is a sponsor on here, pretty good dude and the install took me 20mins.. Just another something to consider for us LS3's.

Mudflap, im glad you went with the posi
Talking with Ryan we decided to give the posi mod a try for the money. If it doesn't perform or if I have issues I'll switch to the trutrak when I add so e suspension mods.

Hey guys I posted this ion a thread but maybe here is better...I'm looking at getting jba shorty headers installed this fir.I have solomhi flow cats and magnaflow competition exhaust.my question I'd ..will the jba shortys bolted to my solos cause any code error..is this a good combination.I don't want long tubes because of emissions ...the car will be dyno tuned in the spring after the warranty is done.i also have the k&n typhoon cai and was wondering what power gains I might get with this setup after the dyno tune...thanks

You will get zero gain from shorty headers. I understand your reasoning for not getting LT's due to emissions, but shorty headers are literally a waste of time.

How are solo HFC's any better with emissions than any of the other HFC's that you get with LT's?

Save your money and keep the stock manifolds, they flow quite well and you will see NO gains from shorties! You have already affected emissions with the Solo cats so you should have just taken the plunge into LT's, unless you are worried about warranty.

Edit: I forgot to answer your question. No you will not throw a code with shorty headers of any make!

Thanks guys for the no code answer.the solos don't throw codes but cannot be used with long tubes. With the emissions .....I just don't want any problems.. I know long tubes would be way better but that's ok. Thanks again
