I retired after being fortunate to have worked 47 yrs fulltime in IT ( except for 2yrs in Army) ...started before there was a anything called a Computer Science degree. Drove new muscle cars in the 60's and thanks be to God I'm driving a new one again! Good luck to you in your career.

Wow, even on this page alone there's a lot people in information technology. That's awesome!

I'm 24 and officially almost 3 years in the IT Industry. More specifically I'm IT support for higher education. I work for a small college, so I have a lot of various responsibilities. Sometimes it can be overwhelming, but I like a challenge. My primary job function is support services for staff, faculty, and students. Troubleshooting, updating, and repairing computer systems. I also do a bit of active directory management, email support (account creation and password resets), and I'm the webmaster for our website. Which is mostly keeping it up to date and fixing errors.

Before that I went to school for Network Engineering (Associates), so I do get to play with the network also, but mostly updating infrastructure.

On top of that I am a freelance PC tech for the community. One guy that setup shop a couple of years ago went under (for good reasons) and my business has been picking up since than. Enough so I'm establishing a trade name and getting registered with the state. I have several business clients so far. I actually think I might have to turn away clients so it doesn't get out of hand. I hate to do it because I don't want people to get screwed over by someone (so many stories of local "techs"), but I just don't have time. :(
