Why not? Added lag. You can go too big on a turbo. If you want 800 don't buy 1400 turbos, if you want 1000 I would call AGP and get the correct size turbos, not just the biggest ones.

im not worried about added lag, if anything I would want added lag. less stress on all the powertrain through hard shifts and hard driving. and would help with traction a little bit more than having the boost more instantaneous. im looking for 750ish crusin around town and turn a knob and have a 1000 to 1100 on tab

Lag sucks ass! Do some more homework, it doesn't really work that way.

I have a 2001 single cab Silverado with a T6 housing 76mm cold side and a 99mm turbine wheel and I don't reach full boost of 18# until 6000rpm and I love it, it still blows the tires off at 70mph. that turbo is entirely too big for that motor but you cant beat a free T6 s o I ran it. and ive came to love the lag. im not a number chaser at the track to im not worried about it coming on quick. I just love the fun of having the power!!

Sounds like the 61s maybe good for you then, just wanted to make sure you are aware.

Exactly. You want fast spool, then you can control the boost to do what you want !

Anyone deliberately wanting lag is nuts.

Exactly, but if he wants 1100rwhp later then he will want the 61s or bigger anyways so as long as he knows what he wants. It is the people who buy them then set them to 6psi, make 650rwhp and say they are laggier than they though when they are barely spinning them. They would be better off with 51s.

Pretty rainy here.Would be affraid it would pull water.
I was told that the location of the filters are great And if it were to pull in water ,which is unlikely, the heat from the turbo would evaporate the water and would cool the air which would increase performance. Now in my opinion I wouldn't be driving thru monsoons with it but street use should be fine.

Yeah I'm just planning for the near future, I'll have them set to around 12 to 14# at first

How much lag would the S256 turbos have running 5-6 lbs of boost? I was told they have a much louder spooling sound compared to the base turbos due to the ported shroud they have. Im trying to see if it would be worth it if i plan to stay under 600 hp for a while until i can afford to beef up the drivetrain.
Also id love to see more videos of these kits! Keep them coming please!

The ported shroud 4" inlet S256 turbos are louder and the cold air intake pipes make them even louder so, if you want. The compressor and turbine wheels are a few mm larger than the standard 56mm S200sx turbos so they have 2-300rpm more lag.

If you don't need 1100whp worth of turbo we have a number of options you can go with that are ported shroud, 4" inlet that will spool quicker and only support like 800whp. I think they cost less than S256's also. They would be a t3/t4 Garrett hybrid type turbo rather than Borg Warner.

Thanks for the info. At some point i do plan on being in the 1000hp range i just want to make sure it wouldn't be too annoying to go with the larger turbos from the start. I don't mind a slight lag like you said 2-300 rpm doesn't sound too bad but ive never driven a turbo car other than a small stock turbo 4cyl and a stock 87 grand national.

The S256's are usually the largest turbos I would put on stock displacement and still considered it a responsive street car. With the stock LS3 compression you're looking at the car coming on hard about 3800rpm up. The make a lot more torque and come on sooner than a centri.
Then when you build your motor, do a 4" crank and like 10-10.5:1 is CR and the car will have great power everywhere, and make a nice easy 1000+whp. The power output from that combo is so perfect, really what every 5th gen guy should be striving for.
