got the call from my dealer...car will be in this afternoon or evening!

had a rather fun exhange with the guy:

Me: Can you call me as soon as the truck shows up...I want to come get the financing stuff finalized for my bank since I'll be swamped all day at work tomorrow and won't have time...need to get it done today

Dealer: No problem. If you want, since we have the final invoice and VIN you could do it today, but don't know if you want to do it without seeing the car first...

Me: I bought the damn thing sight unseen and without a test drive. You think I'm worried about not seeing it first?

Dealer: (laughs) You guys are nuts. Talk to you this afternoon.

Well I stopped by last night to look at the Camaro, check out the open house, and well they even let me drive it and pull it in. I will actually get to pick it up tonight around 6, I am so excited, I love this thing.

There are only a slight few issues, for one my engine cover is still on back order. So that will be in who knows when, my Bumblebee stripes will be put on in a week or so, and finally my driver side door has a pretty good chip in it from transport. While I will get to play with it this weekend, I have to bring it back on Monday or Tuesday and leave it over night or so to get the door repainted to take care of the chip. I'll do another head to toe inspection tonight before I actually take possession of it and document all the issues so they can fix them. Otherwise I cannot wait, epic car, worth the wait, and totally happy I went with it!

That's pretty ingenious.

I tried UP just now. Their voice activated system almost drove me crazy. I feel so stupid talking to a computer. Anyway, I got it to go through finally and the rail car has been loaded and has an eta of 8/27. Of course that would only be to the distribustion center which is three hours away from me. So, I'm probably looking at the first week in September to take delivery.

Oh and I only stalled it twice! I cannot figure out where the clutch catches, its so smooth! Gonna take a while to get used to.

tell me bout it- i can't stand UP's tracker- it never understands "ETTX" i laugh at some of the letters it comes up with on the repeat...

as for CSX to automate in an ETTX car: 1 800 235 2352w1p32818192w(car number)#p#

w= insert a "wait" p=insert a "pause" a wait will mean that you need to press your main "select/ok" button to get it to go to the next sequence. a pause will mean the phone will pause, then automatically move to the next sequence...

mine has a railyard eta of 8/24, dealer's invoice is saying good to go @ the dealership on the 27th... so i'm sure i'm pestering him, but i gotta know when I can fly out there and get her!! I'm "recommending" that it be ready for me to pick up midday on the 28th haha- then the 2 day drive back south... talk about "break-in"

It's too bad the rail system isn't as fast as traveling by car. I just asked mapquest for directions from Chicago to Spokane, WA and it only takes 26 hrs. If that were the case, my car would be delivered by tomorrow afternoon. Oh, well.

UP update for mine...
Left Conway, AR @ 1035 today.
Has a arrival time at INDUSTRY of 1100hrs on 8/20/2009

Not sure where the INDUSTRY is for the railcar, but it is only 300 miles away from the city where my dealership is. There is a major rail hub there in Tyler, TX so the car might be getting offloaded there and immediately on a truck. Fingers crossed

Of course when I try to call my dealer to ask them where their Camaros are being unloaded from train and loaded onto trucks, no one bothers to answer or return my calls...

Just got mine today!! This car is AMAZING. IDK wtf people are saying about the clutch giving them problems stalling etc. Didn't have a bit of trouble. It is a bit springy but mine doesn't start to catch until 50% out or so, and its real smooth. I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow, rained a bit on us bringing it home

On the way home I was soo amazed at how many people was breaking their necks to see it. Was a great feeling.

#34502 IS HOME! Delivered/picked up on the 18th.

4 hours late!Dealer say one day to unload and get to them.But pretty much on time !!
