![]() Looks are subjective so this is a moot point, and using looks as a way to make up for lesser performance (which at this point is not completely known and all based on speculation from both parties) is as stupid as using a good personality to make up for having a small C*#@. |

Okay at this point I know as much as anyone else about what the 2013 GT500 and ZL1 will offer.
There have been ZERO independent tests to prove anything, especially direct side-by-side comparisons between the two. Even if the 2013 GT500 posts a Nurburgring time in the 7:3X range, that still isn't the end. There are plenty of other tracks out there, Laguna Seca, VIR, Willow Springs, Grattan, etc. where these two titans will battle it out. Tracks that quite frankly stress different aspects of a car, and may put one or the other at a disadvantage in that situation. There will be lightning laps, there will be autoblog, insideline, all the magazines, youtube, we will soon see with blinding light if there are any short comings with either car. We will see if the ZL1 needed more power, or the if the GT500 can't use all the power it has. Isn't that more fun anyway? Then we will also have real folks battling it out at the dragstrip and tracks; guys and gals who aren't professional drivers that have lapped the Nurburgring dozens of times in their career posting this or that time for the sake of advertising. Imagine how boring all this would be if we could just compare press releases to determine a winner with absolute certainty. I'm glad the real world isn't so predictable. ![]() Until then, all we can do is speculate and argue about our guesses and predictions. Meanwhile I have a 427 calling my name

I don't think it's just the Gt500 that Chevy fears. What about the 13 GT? It's getting quite an upgrade as well. Besides the new front and rear, Hid standard, 4" lcd screen with track app in the dash, Recaro seat options and Track Package with torsen differential, 420hp. The current GT beats the SS, the 13Gt will probably perform like the 12 Boss302. I will not be surprise if the 13Gt is a mid 12s car. IT will not be a driver's race between the SS anymore.

I can't believe that this thread has over 800 replies. Even Al w/e his name is felt the need to write a letter responding to the release of the 2013 gt500. Did Ford ever release a letter responding to the ZL1?? Hell, the Chevy people are making a bigger deal out of it than the Ford people. I think it is hilarious. And the mods keep this thread in the Zl1 section, why not move it to the vs. section so not as many people will see it. Can't be a positive thing to come into the ZL1 forum and see how sweet the next mustang is going to be.
I still think it's funny how people are still talking up the MR suspension or looks, which are subjective, after release of the stang specs. I'm sure 99% of the ZL1 owners will take their car to a road course and race it and that's about the only place you will see the MR benefits over a SRA. 650hp/600tq, 200+mph, 3850 lbs. Mustang 580hp/550tq, 184 mph, 4120+ lbs., MR Camaro. can't forget that MR No wonder why the Chevy camp has responded the way they have and short of adding another 20+hp/50tq, slashing a few hundred pounds, u/g all drivetrain parts and engine intenals it's still just not enough.

Im waiting for the 3rd party companies to test both of em. Should be interesting to see the 650hp 200+mph mustang get man handled by the ZL1. It takes more than HP and some dampeners to do what the ZL1 is capable of. But you guys will find that out sooner or later, until than let all the haters talk.

I'm kinda skeptical about 200mph till I see it.
Put a nice rear end and sticky tires on it and it should be beast at the strip though. What do the KRs usually run in the 1/4? Those are 750 right?] |

As of this morning Chevrolet laid down the guantlet to FOrd and they are hiding in the corner. According to reports ive seen, Chevrolet Exec's basically challenged FOrd and their new all mighty 2013 GT500 to a run at The RING and Ford declined! Just means they aren't hitting the times set by the ZL-1 even with more power. If they were on target, why decline? Imagine the boost in potential sales....
