Yeah , but I havnt heard of a dealer doing with a hot item car..
I have taken a vehicle home for the weekend..and then come back on say like monday to finalize the deal.

here is something i picked up on another thread maybe you guys will find this useful.......


Former railroad conductor here. If you are referring to how long a car sits in a rail yard waiting to move on it is called dwell time. The average dwell time depends on the size of yard and traffic flows. But generally it is 20-24 hours. Sometimes the arriving train will have blocks of cars that will be part of another train, if they don't have enough cars sometimes the train is canceled till the next day. It might be assigned to go onto a train that only runs certain days of the week too, so that is also why a particular car will sit for a few days.

yeah I had read that too.. sucks...
but thats why I was telling everyone it could sit for 24hours.. or more.
as mine has.. been in Illinois for 2 days. and in that 2 days it traveled maybe 50 miles, looks like the reason is because there wasn't enough room in the transfer area to put the train.

Can you give me your Rail car number, I will see what I can find out..If you are still in Toronto, I can almost bet you are not on a Union Pacific carrier yet..
Your rail car number will be the same through out.. they dont pull the cars out until they get to the destination.. from what I understand.

Just checked & it's still sitting in the Toronto yard. It's been there since last night at 11:12PM. If I'm understanding the automated voice report for it.

I am guessing when it starts to move, I'll get more info.

Went to 4200 yesterday (8/25) and 1:05 pm. Transferred to Canadian pacific railway and left Oshawa at 9:40 pm this evening. It's rolling!

this is what I have found out..
as you stated you are in Toronto. it arrived at 11:12PM.
But thats not your final destination.. I am assuming that they are gathering rail cars to take on further.. basically swapping with other trains..
But the good news is I found out when yours will finally make it to Industry( final rail destination), and who will be taking it there.
Your scheduled delivery date to the final rail yard is August 31st @ 6:01 AM
and it will eventually be picked up by Union Pacific.. My guess is it will transfer to union pacific in Salem Illinois.. thats where mine is right now, and it's headed to Texas like yours..
keep tracking on CSX unitl it says delivered to industry transfer complete.. then start tracking it on Union Pacific

BTW it could sit for a day or two in Toronto.. but it WILL start moving.. Mine has moved maybe 50 miles in 2 days...
