I have had my user name since the early ninetys. During my Army days, I spent 3 tours in Vietnam with the 173d Airborne Brigade. Their so called nickname was Skysoldiers and VN for Vietnam.

Mine's a concatenation of a character name from David Lindsay's "A Voyage to Arcturus" (Nightspore aka Maskull) who was an inquisitive interstellar traveler hellbent on learning the truth of the universe even if it killed him and my birth year since Nightspore by itself is usually already taken.
