Anyways, I'm not writing them off. I just don't think they can react that quickly....even IF they had something waiting in the wings. And if Ford does, you'd bet that Chevy does as well....which brings us back to Square 1!
One option Ford has is to use the supercharger off the Ford GT supercar. Ford offers this supercharger in the FRPP book for the Shelby. It puts the 2010 up to 650hp. Now with the aluminum block, the supercharger Is one of the only differences between the engines, that and H beam rods that the GT had.

So the engine is already to go it has already been used in a production car. Ford just needs to figure out how to keep the gas guzzler tax off the GT500 and boost the HP again.

Now when both cars are redone in a few years who knows all bets are off. I have heard that Ford is weighing almost every part and figuring out how to drop 300lbs.

Here is another think to think about. The GT500 runs the 1/4 mile well and goes around a track well.

The latest thing I heard is the 2012 Boss will beat a GT500 around a track by 1 second and the car will be light weight and cost under 40k.

What can GM get out in 12 mo. to compete with that? Or will it take the 3 years again?

My guess, is that if Ford does ANYTHING on the GT500 (it already has a GG tax)..it'll be changing the blower to make a factory rating of 600-650 HP for 2012.

Expect a totally new GT500 in 2014-15 for the Mustang 50th Anniversary.

No more GG on the GT500

I am still suprised by how low the economy rating are for CTS-V and ZR1. Their power isn't that much different than the GT500. The weight difference is pretty substaintial, but where does the rest go? I know the GT500 has an electric PS pump, but is it worth THAT much?

Oh well - I could give a crap about the mileage, lol. It'd be nice not to have the GG though

Paying 1000 - 2000 buck for nothing sucks the big one. GM will need some magic to not have a GG tax on a SuperCharged Camaro.

Part of it may be the GT500's engine is more efficient. But I think the main difference is SRA vs. IRS. Less loss with the SRA.

The insiders are saying that both the GT and the GT500 will receive power upgrades in the very near future whether the Camaro gets a bump or not.

It's the heads, not the weight.

I have been told by a friend who works at GM in Oshawa the the Z28 will have 575hp. Makes sense as it will put it between CTS and ZR1. Also above the Shelby.
