I got the Borla ATAK Axle-Back a few weeks ago. I now want to replace the stock resonators and H-pipe with an X-Pipe.

I see this: http://www.amazon.com/Borla-60512-X-Pipe/dp/B003D4TDDA

Which lists, on the Borla website, which axle-backs it's made to work with. The ATAK is not on the list. My assumption is that it's because the ATAK came out after this was made and it just hasn't been updated. Can any of you confirm that this will work, and will essentially be the exact same as the full ATAK cat-back?

Additionally, I do not want to void my warranty just yet and thus have no intention of doing a tune until I get to that point. I would like a few extra horses, and some better sound, so I was looking at getting some shorty headers. Would I actually see an increase (product pages claim anywhere from 5 to 15 for shorties)? Also, does the material affect the sound? Since I will eventually go to LTs when I'm okay dropping the warranty I don't want to drop a tonne on shorties, so was looking at getting the Chrome BBKs ($319). Would I be displeased with them and better off getting the Stainless steel for an extra 150 or would the chrome suffice me until my LTs (probably in a year)

I would skip basically everything you just said and get some Solo HF catted midpipes or the JBA ones. I still got a CEL occasionally with the Solos, but you can just ignore it, or clear it with a cheap-o scanner. You won't hurt anything. Your car will sound awesome, and you'll get the most power you're gonna get out of a mod until you void your warranty.

These?

http://www.phastekperformance.com/20...es-1812syc.htm

Also, when you say "skip basically everything" does that include the x-pipe? Unless I'm mistaken, wouldn't these midpipes leave the stock resonators/h-pipe in place?

Yep, those or the Solo ones. I think the Solos are a little more expensive, but they are supposedly less likely to throw a CEL. I would buy the JBA ones if I were to do it over again just to save some $$$. Since you are an LS3, I would skip the x-pipe too. For now at least. You don't have much in the factory LS3 catback that needs to be replaced. I still have an H-pipe on my 3" because I like the way it sounds. Not worth blowing all that money unless you just don't like the way it sounds after the HF cats.

nah...I got a SLE z71 5.3 crew. White with black interior. I'm going to put orange fender stripes & black wheels on it to match the camaro. Should be a killer looking combo pulling into Fest.

Yeah that'll be cool. That's a better DD than I'll be buying when mine becomes too much of a toy.

Excellent! Then I will replace my plan of getting the X-Pipe with the Mid-pipes instead, at least to start with

I'm thinking a late 60's/early 70's C10. I need to have something to tinker with at all times.

Good plan. No sense in spending money you don't need to spend. I think you'll be pretty happy with the ATAK axleback and the HF cats. It will get substantially louder. It should sound great. You can probably make back what you spend on those midpipes too if you manage to get a set from the classifieds.

Does anyone have anything bad to say about the Mantric ER2? I'll need to do something about my clutch one of these days and I don't want to spend $1500+.

I am a fan personally.

Solid clutch, good to around 700hp and isnt insanely stiff, retained a very stock like feel in my opinion and had good street manners.
