Not me thats for sure. If I had a LS3 mn6 car I would love for him to spend a day taking it down the track. Porbably would have me first on the bone stock list...

Now even for me its hard to f up the auto L99 times, 2 mods and a tune low 12`s. I drove my prev 06 Vette MN6 LS2 after half a day of racing to a 11.98, then a buddy who has been driving stick at the track for several years took it down and first time ran an 11.96, and I thought I was a good driver... I figure Bob could have put that car in the 11.7`s just on the driver mod.

Matter of fact I remember how frustrating it was running his car as at the track...Lol.. I was used to beating cars outfitted like his 99 Cobra w/ my Trans Am, but I couldn`t beat him in his.. Bob, glad your not in VA anymore for that reason...

To fix my heavy situation I`m throwing substantial power at it, magnaflow full dual 3 inch exhaust out the back will go on friday to replace the stock cans and bolt up to the AR Headers, and I`ve bought and paid for my Whipple, if they will just ship the thing already!!! Then weight and the tiny cam in the L99 is not going to be so much of an issue after that...

Side note have any of you ford guys seen what safe boost is going to be on a stock internal 5.0 w/ out meth? I`m thinking w/ the high compression and still pretty small rods it may not be able to run much. I know more goes into figuring the max safe boost but compression is usually the biggie. I could be wrong though, I thought the 5.0 was going to be maxed out from the factory and on paper that looked to be the case. Not true in real life though.

There is a guy local who has a 5.0, Sean Kelley, he had a stang shop not sure if he does now, he`s also still on TWR, but he`s had some real fast cars, he`s going to put his 5.0 on a diet, and I`m sure many more mods to come, I`m sure he will boost before long as well. I`m interested to see how the car shapes up.

Oh and I just have 1 more thing to say:

My 2008 had the same air conditioning controls I had in my 1990 Mustang GT. For crying out loud...they still have a prop rod for the hood.

I agree with the independent rear suspension but you need to look at a 2011 Mustang, they do have a interior trunk release, Sync, and an option for Navi. outside tempatures. I think the Mustang is much better equiped when comes to interior features. As far as on-star goes you can keep the Sync is much better.

The OnStart Sync debate.

I own a Mustang and Camaro. There are things I like about OnStar and Sync as well as dislikes. Overall I favor the OnStar system for one main reason.

OnStar does not use my cell phone. If I forget my cell phone, Sync is UnSync'd. No phone service and no nav service.

I wasn't saying there were not draw backs to both Sync and On-star just that the Mustang does have just as many features as the Camaro other then IRS. I really understand what you mean about having to use your cell phone because it could also cost money when you run over on minutes. I like being able to talk on the phone using Sync. I don't have upgraded radio for the Navi but it still gives me turn by turn directions.

While it's true you need a cell phone for some sync features, the monthly cost of onstar more than makes up for that.

Sync came with my car for 3 years so I have not even looked to see what the cost will be after that.

Lets not forget Camaro offers HUD now and the Mustang has sequential tail lamps...

Test Drove a Mustang 5.0

While waiting for my daily driver to be serviced (Toyota) I walked over to the Ford dealership to look at the new 5.0 Mustangs. Here are my impressions,

1) The engine compartment is beautiful, the cross member over the engine adds a nice finishing touch.
2) The rear end styling is horrible, flat out ugly.
3) Nothing new here, but the front end styling is second to none; it gives the Mustang that aggressive classic muscle car look.
4) The interior looks and feels cheap; I'm not sure they could have found a lower grade of leather. For as much grief as the Camaro gets with regard to it's interior, it's far better than the Mustang's.
5) The shifter (M6) is loose and sloppy, far worse than the Camaro's stock shifter.
6) I thought the wheels on the stock SS Camaro were narrow, the wheels on the Mustang look like something that belongs on a family sedan.
7) The sound of the exhaust is very nice.
8) The handling seemed OK, but not even close to the Camaro SS, of course I'm used to my Camaro with coilovers and wide tires all the way around.
9) The acceleration felt identical to the stock Camaro SS, I honestly could not tell a difference. But the engine revved more quickly and was more responsive.
10) They have a UAW sticker on the window...WTF? That alone would turn me away. Even though Barry Obama and the UAW own GM they don't (not yet at least) put their logo on their cars.

You better go buy a foreign car if you want non union labor to build it. At least their're built here and not in Cananda. And before everyone from Cananda hops in their cars and comes down here to kick my ass for saying that, I don't have a problem with my camaro coming from cananda. I was merely making the point that the op's last comment makes no sense.

Why not. Hard Drive voice activated touch screen Navigation, SYNC, DVD, back up camera, Sirius travel, 10g hard drive juke box w/ record are must have options on $40k car's now day's to alot of people. I pony'd up an additional $2k my the electronics pkg and I couldn't be happier.

You don't need a cell phone to get directions if you have the NAV/ electronics pkg. Phone based SYNC/ nav is standard on all Mustangs which require's a cell phone for turn by turn direction displayed through the base head unit and speakers.

I wish I had HUD though, but the 2 shift lights and selectable audible shift tone helps shifting but not for speeding.

2) The rear end styling is horrible, flat out ugly. An eyesore!
3) Nothing new here, but the front end styling is second to none; it gives the Mustang that aggressive classic muscle car look. Yep, nothing new.
4) The interior looks and feels cheap; I'm not sure they could have found a lower grade of leather. For as much grief as the Camaro gets with regard to it's interior, it's far better than the Mustang's. Disagree. I think the Mustang's interior is better ergonomically, fit, finish, and appearance.5) The shifter (M6) is loose and sloppy, far worse than the Camaro's stock shifter. That's new. One I test drove felt tighter than the stock SS shifter.6) I thought the wheels on the stock SS Camaro were narrow, the wheels on the Mustang look like something that belongs on a family sedan. Yeah, the tires are too narrow for a musclecar but then again, same for the SS and Chally SRT8.7) The sound of the exhaust is very nice. The Mustang V8 will always win the exhaust sound battle vs. the Camaro IMO.8) The handling seemed OK, but not even close to the Camaro SS, of course I'm used to my Camaro with coilovers and wide tires all the way around. Handling without the trak-pack was so-so similar to a stock SS.9) The acceleration felt identical to the stock Camaro SS, I honestly could not tell a difference. Felt fast but sounds faster due to the lovely exhaust note. But the engine revved more quickly and was more responsive. Agree10) They have a UAW sticker on the window...WTF?
