and perhaps that money can then go towards a purchase of said cams/etc.

Even if it didn't-- if everyone threw in a little, it could definitely add up for R&D expenses.

Sounds cheaper to just trade in the RS and get a SS. IMO
I've owned and do own some insane high performance vehicles, including a heavily modified 1969 RS/SS with L78 396ci big block, late model Ferrari's, etc.

I was looking for a fun, new, great looking daily driver that I didn't have to cry over if something happened to it. I drove two 2SS models and was bored to tears. It rev'd and shifted like some lame truck motor to me. (But if it puts a smile on YOUR face that's great).

Anyway upon hopping in the V6 I was lik wow - Fun. The motor spools up quicker, the auto tranny is perfectly mated to the motor with shift points and responsiveness. LOVE IT. If you gave m a 2SS for free I'd sell it and get the V6 again and mod it. Looking forward to modding this motor! High compression, 4 valves per cylinder, lots of potential.

Gretchen is being shipped down here so I can tear the motor down and design some dished pistons and put in ARP fastners and I'll have the cams to work with!!!! Also going to dig into the heads & intake manifold so stay tuned. Long term project but this is what I was waiting for.

Yes, hurry before you get distracted by this new fangled LFX motor.

Thanks for looking after us soon to be LLT dinosaurs.

Glad to be back.

Cant wait to get into the motors.....there are enough LLT's on the road that the R&D time will be worth it.

These are not PushRod motors. Putting 4 cams in these cars will probably be very expensive in labor alone.

In all reality less labor could be involved to swap out the four over head cams compared to a single cam pushrod motor. Depending on cam bearing journal design and chain install and removal process a good wrench could have the cams swapped over in a matter of hours if springs don't need to be changed. Add a couple hours with springs but the same would apply for a pushrod motor.

Over head cam swap-Pull valve covers, remove drive chains, remove cam journal, lift out cams, swap springs, install cams, install chains and reinstall valve covers. Maybe r&r spark plugs if motor needs to be rolled over when doing chains.

Push rod swap- Pull rocker covers, remove rockers, remove pushrods, pull intake, remove lifters, remove front accessories, remove chain cover and chain, pull cam, swap springs, install cam, install chain and cover, install accessories, install lifters, install pushrods, install intake, install rockers and adjust, install rocker covers. Dont forget all of that fun gasket scraping of intake and timing cover gaskets. (not sure might be rubber these days on the v-8's)

Oh wait do you need to pull radiator and a/c condensor on the single cam swap... Bet you do and now you gotta go to someone to recover you a/c and refill it.
