So I've been trying to prepare my car mainly for the autocross at the LS Festival here in Texas at Texas Motor Speedway for a while now. I've got a new engine, with a trans cooler, an oil cooler, new suspension, brakes, and tires. One thing I'm wondering is if the 3600 stall torque converter will hurt me in the autocross because I think I read somewhere that you don't want a high stall for autocross but I'm not sure. Another thing is that I'm assuming that I would want to shift manually? Any tips from the experienced guys out there?

Hey man! I finally sat down to read your build, it was an EPIC journey and I'm really jealous of your set up.
I can't say anything about your motor, as I still have the basically unmodified V6 in mine, but as for the auto/manual debate on track, I tend to go with both, depending on the track. As I am trying to learn the track and get a feel for it I will tend to leave my car to do the shifting itself, but as I discover where the auto shifts too early or late I then switch over to manual mode and shift myself if necessary. The same goes for TC. I keep it on in the beginning, but if I notice it is limiting me I'll turn it off and use my senses. Tire pressure is also important and I always do a few laps, read the tires and adjust from there, the same goes with my suspension set up. I keep a log book with my settings and write notes about how things felt. That being said, adjusting those parameters only helps a small amount, the biggest aspect is the driver. Stay hydrated, focused and enjoy the day out. |

Getting ready.
Yesterday I had the Goodyear Eagles F1 Super Car 3's (rears 305/30/20 and fronts 285/30/20) put on and they do grip a lot better than the Sport Comp 2 BFG's that I had on there for sure but the BFG's were 420 TW and compared to the Goodyears that are a 220 TW. One thing I don't like is the Goodyears are a lot shorter being a 30 series tire then the other tires which were a 40 series, but I picked them up from a member of the car club for $150 with only a 1k miles on them from his brand-new 6th gen 1LE so I can't complain. I also installed my tow hook, the air scoop for my CAI in the bumper, and redone my transmission lines to the cooler with an fittings instead of the hose and clamp method. The only thing I have left to do is the brakes.

So I just got my ZL1 pump installed yesterday. I had Exodus do it and they did a great job. They said the wouldn't cut an access hole so they dropped the rear cradle to do it. Opportunity calls! So at the same time I had them install some BMR poly subframe bushings and wow what a difference. Now I have absolutely no wheel hop. And they did it all in about 4 hours but they did have three guys working on it. I also have the Goodyear Eagle f1 super car 3's on and just installed ebc dimpled and slotted rotors with their blue stuff NDX race pads. So I think I'm ready as I'm going to be for my first Autocross this morning, so wish me luck!

The rear subframe bushing would be in my list of top 5 mods for these cars - especially the 2010-2011 cars which have the exceptionally soft ones. Can't make anything else in the rear of the car do what it's supposed to until you control the movement of that subframe - and once you do you find some of those otehr things really aren't too bad.

Well guys I completely sucked my first time out but I'm going to give it another try. One good thing though is the car performed flawlessly.
