i have just baught a camaro 2/ss w/o rs package, i want to drive the car around in teh winter as well, but i have the brembo brakes (problem or not?). I want to take the factory (i think 20 inch) rims and find winter tires that fit those and order some aftermarket rims for the summer. I want to keep the tires from the stock rims and put those on some aftermarket rims? can you help me i really dont want to mess up and end up loosing money instead of saving from the tire swap?
thanks, mandeep |

If your using your stock wheels you can run a 245/45R20 front and rear. Works well in the snow. You can also run stock sizes front and rear in a Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow as well. Feel free to give me a call.

Tire air pressure - The effects of time and temperature
For each month that passes you loss about 1 PSI AND for every 10 degrees F change in ambient temperature you lose or gain 1 psi.
Simple example. Its July and I check my air pressure and set it to 35 PSI. Lets say it was 80 degrees. I do not check my pressure again until November and its 30 degrees out. So I have lost about 4 PSI to time and another 5 PSI loss to temperature. So I am down 9 PSI and running at 26 PSI which is very low. Please keep this in mind and check your air pressure frequently. Air Pressure plays a critical role in carrying the weight of the car, handling and fuel economy. |

I just bought some Pirelli Scorpions from TireRack in the 245/45R20 and 275/40R20 setup. I decided to go with the fatter back tires for 2 reasons, vanity, and they plow the roads pretty quickly out here and the roads are salted so well that dry road performance is also important and the wider rears will help me if I happen to make a "spirited" turn on a dry road But anyway, I will have to be a little more careful if the roads are icy/snowy, but a wide winter tire is better than summer tires!
One thing I recommend is offering the staggered setup when somebody is looking for a winter package... You don't have to list it as "recommended" but really, the site makes it appear like there are no "packages" in the staggered setup, and you have to select the tires manually.

Can anyone tell me the impact on my speedometer if I go with 245/50/ZR19 all season tires on 8" wide 19" rims for winter? I have an early model 2010 (no wheels on my Brembo's so the 19" rims should work), with the staggered 20" setup (245/45R20 and 275/40R20). It's starting to get cold and I have to continue driving my car.... Will I have to change the speedometer calibration each time I change over from summer to winter to summer? Thanks for any help.

I changed my Wheels out yesterdat Sat 9 Oct.
Took car out fot test run around town last night drives great. Every time you start car need to flip tire pressure signal off. No TPM on Winter wheels. Just flit it back to MPH on the DIC. Today the Temp is 38 Deg outside. |

Thanks, Stex.
That calculator is great - the winter tires will only have one additional revolution per mile (703 rev's/mile on stock vs. 704 rev's/mile on the "winter" all seasons. |
