Where was that? I remember the last couple years Old Mans Cave is tough to get parking. We can figure it out at the first stop. I am betting Rock House won't be a problem.

As far as reservations, haven't given it much thought.

Old Mans Cave has a pretty big paved parking area with three levels. Last year it was tough to get a space because it was so busy by the time we got there.

As I recall Conkes Hollow has more moderate parking with some paved parking and some grass parking.

I was thinking with the larger group this year, it might be good to let the restaurant know about how many would be coming.

To hike to the climbing areas you park about a quarter mile past the Conkle's Hollow lot. There is a gravel lot, which could be a problem if it's crowded. The hike isn't too long but it's mostly uphill and shared by equestrian traffic so it gets rough on the steep switchbacks. It might be too much if folks have been hiking all day. Let's see how it goes and if many people even want to do something like that. What it is is just a bunch of 40 to 50 foot cliffs where we set up climbing ropes for people to top-rope climb and rappel. A lot of fun if your actually doing it, so-so if you're just watching. If a group ever wants to do something like that over there or elsewhere, my friends and I are all AMGA certified to set all those systems up. We're headed to New River Gorge tommorrow to prepare for our next level certification exams on Monday and Tuesday over there. Wish us luck.

I agree with Heinz, better warn the restaurant about a large group, even though you don't know what time to tell them. I'm sure they'll be busy, but at least they won't freak when you ask for tables for 40 people.

I have whitewater rafted on the New River under the bridge. There is a lot of beautiful scenery in that area.

So far the weather for next week looks pleasant. Sunny all week except Wednesday and the weekend looks GREAT. SUNNY and 60 friday, Saturday and Sunday!

Hope to see everyone there. Remember, we will meet at Rock House this time. I will bring my pictures from vacation and either show them there or at lunch or whatever.

See you all then, have a good week.

Wish I could. 3 of the kids have soccer and 1 of them has volleyball, so while the wife is coaching the soccer games, I'll be running the other one to volleyball.

And this is the last weekend for both.

My dad told me he pulled ours out of the tool shed yesterday just to make sure it still ran...just in case.

Years ago I waxed my car outside on Christmas Eve and it snowed on Christmas Day. You know the saying. Don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes.
