I am telling you this thing is not limited to 118... I had it up to 133 again today. Either they forgot to set the ECM on this one or its BS. However, my car is not limited and I am running on 18" steelies

Turbo-Ts and Grand Nationals were speed-limited in the '80s...because of TIRES. That was one of several reasons "chip" manufacturers came into being.

Today, other methods are legitimately used to "change" speed limitations (no "chip" used today) when appropriate. But, from the Factory, they are supposed to be speed-limited to the speed-rating of the OEM tires. Anything else is an anomoly.

well when you are seriously hurt from a tire blowout at those speeds on those tires you can only blame yourself....

Its not like I go around driving at 100+ every 5 minutes... I am normally a 65-75 mph driver but I had to teach a 2009 Stang a lesson.

I am not saying you were not driving 130mph on T rated tires, but consider this scenario:

A guy drives his Camaro at 130mph because the car can go that fast, but a stock factory equipped tire explodes causing death. If this happens because of the speed rating of T cannot take the heat of 130 mph, then GM will be sued for putting out a tire that isn't matched to the capability of the car. Have the GM lawyers not thought of this already?

Even a warning in the owner's manual isn't enough absolve GM from protecting the stupid (no offence intended). They have a responsibility to match the tire to the capability of the car.

Your car must be special.

The dealer can change the 118 limit to the 155 limit IF you bring in the car with tires rated to reach 155. It is entirely possible some dealers are doing this regardless. It's also possible that some 118 cars got the wrong code loaded into their computers allowing the higher limit (this is bad).

Like I said before in other threads unless you are racing on the Bonneville Salt Flats you have no business doing a top speed run in any Camaro on public roadways.. That my fellow Camaro owners is INSANE!

I'm a 65-70 mph guy, but I did get on my LS once to see what she'd do...I hit 121 & slowed up because I knew the tire rating is 118, but I never hit a limiter or got any speed warning on the DIC...just my 2 cents on this...& I've never been close to that since

I'd imagine without a limiter and a lot of road you could creep up to about 170 MAX.

I've gotten mine to 140 no problem in 4th gear, from 120 to 140 it pulls very well. Starts to slow up around 145.
