Z28 AL Option

Would it be reasonably possible for the factory to offer an option where the front fenders and doors were stamped out of aluminum? How much weight would this shave off of an already heavy pony car. It is my understanding that the hood is already aluminum.

According to this website, http://petrolsmell.com/2010/04/20/nu...est-lap-times/, the ZR-1 official lap time is actually 7:26.4 and the Z06 official lap time is actually 7:42.9. The lap time for the CTS-V is indeed 7:59.32 and has an estimated curb weight of 4222 lbs, according to Cadillac's website. If they can keep the weight of the Z28 close to the weight of the SS, the Z28 would be 300-400 lbs lighter than the CTS-V. In addition, if they use the same engine with the same power ratings as the CTS-V, it is quite possible the Z28 could lap the nurburgring in the 7:50 to 7:53 range, if not a smidge lower. I'll split the difference and say 7:51.5.

seriously though, a hair faster than the cts-v sounds about right.
Do they even have the GT-500s numbers out on the ring?

I'm going to say the Z28 will be faster then the 500. The 500 is the car tagging along with the Z28. So i'm going to say GM is going to make sure it beats it.

Its the pony car wars all over again. Mustang will be on top then the Camaro will dominate. You know its kinda the Sub//Dom switch. ha ha

If Pedders truly is working with GM then the Z28 is going to easily get to:

7:50

And i believe the Z28 is getting the larger 2300 blower...
