It Is Home!!!
After several delays, my wife picked up the Camaro from the body shop on Wednesday, 07SEP11! I will post pics when I get a chance.
A side note; switching back to the OEM engine mounts got rid of the uber vibration/resonation from the AFM.

Oh, and it appears the body shop gave me a red "SS" badge delete, too. I will have to go pick the badge up from them, since I'm sure they bought one, courtesy of the insurance company.
I like the delete, so now I will delete the red "SS" grille badge to match. |

So yesterday after my wife picked up the car, she went to our daughter's school to pick her up. My wife pulled into to the pick up area and was waiting outside the car when my daughter and a few little boys came out.
One boy said, "Wow, nice Camaro!" Another said, "That is my car." My daughter said, "No it isn't; it is mine." The second little boy said, "No way." Then my daughter said, "Hi, Mom!" and walked over and climbed in. I would have loved to have seen the boys' faces. The first boy walked over and stood on the sidewalk and said to his father, who was waiting one car back from the Camaro, "Look, Dad, it is Bumblebee." His dad said, "I know buddy, it is on the license plate." |

While in the body shop for repairs from hit&run damage, I had the dealer revert to OEM engine mounts. We could not stand the resonation/vibration in the passenger cabin any longer. It only happened when the AFM/DoD kicked in, but in the A6, it is all but unavoidable, unless you want to drive with paddle shifters all the time. My wife picked up the car this week and stated that the rumble was gone. I believe that the Pfadt mounts are quality, but until I am out of warranty and / or tune out AFM, I will stick with the OEMs.

Love the new stripes!
Sorry to hear about the vibration. Was looking at the mod myself but too many people have complained about the noise/vibe. Whats next?

The car shop's insurance company?
Im a perfectionist so no way in heck would I stand for over spray or rough edges. Didn't you pay extra for that too? On top of the repair work they did and paid by the insurance company? I would be telling em they are paying the next shop to have the work done correctly.

They fixed the overspray and the rub mark. The $1500 was from the other driver's ins co for the dim value of the car. I am going to check other folks' stripes to compare quality. The edges have a few "hairs" on the edges, but nothing noticeable beyond about 12" away. I'll keep you posted.
**edit** I paid about $800 out of pocket, that include painting the nose to repair an earlier car vs curb incident and the stripes. Considering I had quotes of $800 for the nose alone, I am not too upset. |
