And a more reaslistic number for the above with installation would be more like $15,000

The price on your face when you get the same package in the new ZL1 with a full GM warranty .....................PRICELESS
Absolutely, not to mention the Brakes and the HD driveline you will get with the ZL1

I would not give Car and Driver that much credit. This car is the GT500's kryptonite. It has to be priced similar, thus the starting price of 47K. Not surprising at all.

If the CAD price is anywhere near this I'll be quite happy. I'm expecting to pay considerably more than that.
considering my 2SSRS was 42k CAD MSRP Im also expecting the ZL1 to be much higher. My SS already stretched my budget. I am happy with what I have.

Sounds like a good price. Hope it is accurate. Can't wait.

I still think it will be closer to $55. The ZL1 is not being built for the masses they dont want to step on the toes of the SS either and they need to come in just under the base Corvette. But it will be the same as the pricing structure of the Vette. They can limit the numbers and their exposure to the EPA BS. Its possible too that this is a short run model more for historic reasons, then another fabled model comes out.

JMO, but still for what you are getting and with a factory warranty, well worth it and my name is all ready first on the list with my dealer. Wait to we see the price of #1 at Barrett Jackson, cause you know they will get since they have with every issue so far. This is a collector car. There are people that will buy, wrap and store.

If its confirmed to be at that price I will get a base model ZL1. I was on the fence really about getting an 2SS RS and modding it past a ZL1, but it would cost even more than a ZL1 and without a warranty...

Choices.

Get that in writing, otherwise it don't mean crap. They told me at my local dealer at first I could get the gm employee discount, but when it was time to order, things changed. $5K over MSRP. Needless to say, I didn't order from them.

Also, J. Fitzpatrick said they weren't going to limit production. Don't know how that will actually pan out, but that's what he wrote in the webchat yesterday.

If his dealer is anything like mine, he won't need it in writing. Never had anything in writing from them and they've ALWAYS delivered on what they said, ALWAYS. It's how they do business. Dugan Chevrolet in Avon, Indiana.

So...the ZL1 is the Z28? I've been out of the loop here for a few weeks and apparently I missed an official name change or something...
