No, I mean it shifts hard into first on its own. I'm not manually downshifting.

I've grown to be a big fan of the tap shifters just in the last month or so. Mostly used them to play with my exhaust when i got it installed. I love the garble you get when you let off the gas in second. Mine's just a V6, but the sound is great.

Two gripes about tapshift: the buttons aren't fixed on the steering column (paddles). If i had to speculate, it's because the column is the same regardless if the car is auto or manual. I would imagine fixed shifters would change the design of the column? The other complaint is the lag. Often the gear box isn't in as big of a hurry as i am. I believe this can be tuned out though. (I'm not brave enough to forego my powertrain warranty.)

If i remember right from my reading over the last year, the L99 will downshift into 2nd at a stop, but not 1st; that you have to manually hit. The LLT's will downshift all the way to 1st at a stop. I believe it had something to do with the launch control at lower RPM's on the V8.

I have no issues going into first as the car automatically down shifts at a stop. It doesn't usually drop to first until about 5mph. Super smooth. It doesn't downshift as quick as i would like though.

If i'm driving in full-auto, i only drive in Sport. I haven't put it in "D" since the day after i bought it. "D" is reserved for the wife, so she can't accidentally hit a tapshift.

Part of me wishes i hadn't listened to her, shoulda gotten a stick.
